Description

Royal Navy Westland Wessex recovers a downed pilot. Part inspired by Jayfar's 'Picking up the payload' image. Westland Wessex a free model retextured by me. Downed pilot and winch operator (yes he is there) is Apollo Max with flying suit by Adh3d. Thanks for taking a look :)

Super image. I remember the Wessex well. I live in Chard, Somerset, UK which is on the test fly path for all the helicopters that Westlands in Yeovil build so as you can imagine I have seen all types. The biggest and best is the Merlin.

Great image. That helicopter is one nice looking model. Beautiful texturing.

Can't recall a 'rendered' Wessex on Rendo in years..bloody brilliant Mike. This gives a real impression of the 'needle in a haystack' nature of ASR missions, particularly when looking for 1 man in a dinghy. Small point, the pilot should have his arms crossed over his chest...otherwise the winch person will 'dip' his inside pocket and nick his wallet as he/she pulls him aboard. (with grovelling, sincere apologies to any winch person who may be sent out to rescue me in the future!!!). 10/10+

Thanks for the comments guys. @ neiwil... You are right mate. The more I look at the rescued pilot the more I think his legs need to be up a bit to as he'd be sitting in a belt harness. As for the winch person...they don't call him 'Lenny The Dip' for nothing :)

Nice job! Neil's got a point about the needle in the haystack look. Seeing the life raft out there sans passenger gives a bit of the desperation of being adrift at sea. Nice job on the Wessex too!

It's great to see a Wessex full stop! Flown by Royalty in the Falklands, sad I think they are all retired now.. (More than likely thinking of OUR Government!) Another fine Helicopter Render, what could be next on your list lol Great work.. And the Pilot being pulled up gets his 'Goldfish' Badge! Rob

This is magnificent work! God, it's like the old Airfix and Frog models I built as a kid are coming back to haunt me... thanks for producing such beautiful artwork.
