What happens to a garden that gets in the way of a major airport expansion project?
In the case of the Seike Japanese Garden south of Seattle...it has been successfully relocated after a major fundraising effort and grant from the State of Washington:)
This was a huge project...every rock, ornament and tree is part of the story...of this classic "Pond and Mountain Garden".
Bill
P.S. Zoom worthy.

I love how much of the garden you were able to get in one shot. This is beautiful! A nice memory. :*
Lovely Bill
A very impressive undertaking!
Gorgeous. So glad it was saved. We need more beauty in this world these days.

very lovely shot of this land
What a great story, but wow, moving the WHOLE garden--whew!!
Too bad we cannot see the 'before' shot too!
I can see why it was saved. It's very beautiful!! Great capture Bill!!
How astonishing! Your photo makes me want to see more.
Lovely Bill.
Wonderful garden!!!
I really 'dig' this shot Bill. It looks natural and what an effort to relocate!
A thing worthy of a new life.Great capture
Good for them!!!!!! Here, it would be the TOTAL opposite, they'd just plough it under, gone forever... And no-one (or very few) would give a s***.. I'm SO glad, very glad that so many do over there.. As I already know! Great shot Bill... Rob PS: Yes mate: I knew No1 were reforming on Typhoons up in Scotland.. Not exactly next door lol As I think I've mentioned before, there used to be at least6 or 7 Squadron nearby on three bases.. But now there are none on none.. No matter what people say to me, how they put it, explain it, the fact is we have hardly any airforce left, sometimes less than 20 available frontline fighters.. As of next year we will have an armed forces total of 87.500.. The officially recognised number as an 'Army' is 100,000! SORRY, very sorry.. I'm droning on.. Sorry Bill.. Rob
Fabulous in zoom & they relocated all this, amazing!!
Oh, what a gorgeous garden! I'm so glad it was saved and relocated.
great photo
Nice shot, though it seems a little dark to me. Great to hear stories about the preservation of things that have value beyond mere money. Here in southern Oregon, there is a constant struggle between those who want to preserve our beautiful forests & those who care about nothing but profits from timber. Unfortunately, there are extremists on both sides, who make it difficult to come up with reasonable compromises...
WOW! What a huge project, but to me it was worth the troubles. Looks gorgeous. Well captured :)
Nice to see the effort involved. Kudos to all involved.
GREAT STORY AND PHOTO
A gorgeous shot, Bill! So wonderful the garden was saved, and didn't become yet another victim of 'progress.'
