Description
These rodeo grounds are in Round Rock, Navajo Reservation. Round Rock is located at the junction of US Route 191 and Indian Reservation Route 12. At this junction US Route 191 turns right toward the south toward Many Farms and Chinle.
In the distance is the sandstone formation that gave this small community its name.

Mike's comment reminded me ... Have we talked about Tony Hillerman? If you haven't read his books, you're missing out. His stories take place in and around Shiprock, and his detectives are Navajo police officers. Excellent stuff! If you've already read them, you'll know why I mention it. :)
Fine photo Sig. I never mind visiting this country but it is ever barren, dusty and mostly hot. I guess we all have our niche...these folks seemingly have no expectations of living under any other conditions...

There's a wild kind of beauty there. I confess, in all my years in Arizona, I never fully fell in love with it, but I did come to appreciate it at some level. This photo sure gives the sense of the distances and open space in this part of the U.S. Another great shot, Sig.
