Description
Built in 1883, this unique house was the first building at what is now Fort Worden in Port Townsend, Washington. John Alexander apparently had Scottish roots and wanted something reminiscent of his homeland, and decided a one bedroom house with a massive tower with a cistern in the top was just the thing. This is the whole building, btw, not just a corner of something bigger.
During Fort Worden's Army years, Alexander's Castle served various purposes, among them a tailor shop and a barber shop.
Fort Worden is now a State Park, and the old barracks and officer's quarters are rented to anyone quick enough to make a reservation. It's a popular destination for retreats and family vacations.
Alexander's Castle was renovated as a guest house rental in 2005.

west of Monterrey,MX there is a full size castle on a cliff.for never seeing any castles in Okla. or Texas, they hold fascination

Oh, my. Like a miniature Newport, Rhode Island. Sadly, nobody else caught on, or, perhaps, he was "king" in his territory and let no trespasser in. I can see him in his kilt atop the tower blowing the pipes at anyone daring to cros HIS border! Interesting juxtaposition of the flowers with the building - the colors! :-)
