Description
Captured yesterday, 3/11/12, late in the afternoon, off a nondescript business front within close proximity of my heavenly haunt.
Well worth a ZOOM.
Oooh, I could hardly wait to post this one. The lock itself is relatively modern, but the metal gate, hasp and latch offer corrosion, erosion, grime, oxidation, primitive workmanship....everything one could ask for in character. There's even a shadow. And just look at that welding/soldering job! I love it!
Impossible for me to match Andrea's medieval era genre of padlocks, but this should do in a pinch.
Toodles, thankx for popping in, and for any and all favs and noncritical comments.

Excellent! I love it1
Cool one Harry, but the lock looks almost too nice for that door ;)
Strange how ordinary objects can exude character & compositional complexity. Not sure what the point of the lock is, though - if I was a thief, I think I'd skip it & go right for that blob of solder...
a 'master'shot ;) but like the shadowplay too !!
Mixing old with new, and I like the colors here. The blue stands out against that buttery color.
very wonderful looking. look like someone broke it and then some one fix it
That's some redneck workmanship all right, cheap repair after an initial break-in attempt perhaps. But painted so nicely, and such a shiny lock...great find, Harry, I can see why you were so happy to get this shot!
It is a 'Masterful' capture for all the reasons that you mentioned. I do like the looks of the sloppy weld and blistered paint.
It looks like it has been broken into a few times, so I almost wonder why they bother to lock it again. Cool shot'
It is amazing. You are very talented. I want to see more from you. I thank you for this one. 5+!
The "Master" at work I see! It looks like the entire lock was removed, or attempted to be removed at one time with that bulge of welding there...neat shot Harry!
Superb contribution to the lock/hasp genre Harry. This is a googie:)
lol, Denise's comment ("redneck workmanship") and the puns about this being a "Master" piece...and I agree that this is a photographer's dream---well a photographer with the eye you have, as many would pass it by. And you are in Andrea's league all the way. It's masterful---no pun---so straight-forward, bold, so well composed, such straight bleached light as backdrop to the thick strokes of the lock & latch, and a big unapologetic capture of all that messy soldering. Just terrific. And the very fact you go so euphoric about such a shot shows the photographer you are. If someone saw only your rose shots, they'd be amazed that you also go all out for shots like this. You just don't discriminate, you shoot what speaks to the camera, and you find the music everywhere. Great shot. Well, I haven't fixed my fav's yet (too lazy to write to the admins and ask what to do & go back & forth---I had to do that re the upload problem), but I'm gonna actually hit 'fav' on this. Not because other images I've commented on aren't also fav's, but just because it's time to do it for at least one image in these weeks. It may not show up in my fav's column, but you should at least get the ebot...Love this shot. (Just 2 for tonight, as I'm preparing for more work on my hands, but I'll be back again. But I had to do this, as it called out to me for weeks. Great work!)
