Description
Part of the crew's drill was to board the life boats, start the motors and lower all on the port side into the harbour.
It was great to observe! In answer to one or two previous questions, I did not fall in. No camera was risked or harmed! The camera I have has a flip out screen with a live-view mode. So with the strap wrapped tightly around my left arm it is possible to get both arms over side, view and push the shutter button.
Thanks for all the comments,
Clive

Oh, oh... and I thought someone (not you) had gone "sploosh" and they were out to pick that someone up. Interesting to see them do a live life boat drill FOR THE CREW with passengers on board. I've never seen, nor heard of such before. So, you were leaning over board to get these fantastic "over board" photos. My, I was a bit worried about your safety there for a while. Nice action photo. Keep up the good work! :-) No comments yet? What's the matter with them? :)
This is a cracking shot Clive, excellent clarity.
So very interesting! I should love to see this !
Superb capture Clive. God Bless.
Great image Hugs Susan~
excellent
outstanding capture.
Jip ... strap around wrist, flip-out screen, and you can get all sorts of fantastic angles on things! I'm intimately familiar with the technique. This is a terrific pov ... really fine work!
Very impressive view Great capture
Unusual perspective - nice shot. Timely too - with that tragic cruise ship accident that happened so recently, I'm sure anyone sailing on a large ship can't help but be thinking about lifeboats...
A rare and pleasing sight.
Another interesting shot! Those props on the lifeboats are so tiny compared to the size of the boat, but typically they get tied together with the lead lifeboat (with the top) doing most of the towing work, and it may have a larger prop.
Fantastic view point.
Look... Crew, training! Costa, take note!!!!!!! Some of the boats are covered ahnd larger, they tow the smaller ones but all have motors.. There is no rowing now.. The idea being the motor will have enough to get you safty (a ship or land).. You would only row, if totally nessicary, you can see oars on the nearest boat, on the left laying down..lol By the way I was told by the captain of the cruise I travalling on, when I asked a question about his 'boat'.. "It is a SHIP!! The lifeboats are boats I sail a SHIP", and he smiled and walked off.. I never forgot that... Rob
