Description
This is the 1929 Carbide and Carbon Building at 230 North Michigan Avenue in Chicago. I do believe this is officially my favorite building anywhere! Leave me room to change my mind, okay? But the green terra cotta, the black granite and the gold-leaf accents really do it for me!

Bill and I don't generally post similar pictures at the same time. As a matter of fact, we rarely consult each other about what or when we post, and we never do the "one, two, three, go" thing. But today we were talking about specific vistas in Chicago, and decided we'd like to present you with two views of this lovely building.
You can see Bill's shot here.

Stunning. I can certainly see why you like it so much.
The building itself is lovely, but so is the shot contrasting the straight lines with the round globes of the lamp.
right next to each other too how cute and sweet as on Bill's you get a WOW too with my mouth still open now time to shut it close it with a smile thank you my friend for the sunshine you bring warm hugs, Linda Kaye
Great capture of this awesome structure!!! As with Bill's this a great POV!!!
I was beginning to think you were following Bill around, LOL! Two views are always better than one!
Same for you as Bill Tara, a fantastic shot and POV. Super DOF.
Awesome capture!
SUMPTUOUS! If a photo can be so described. There is something very sensuous about the lamps against the opulence of the building.
Stunning capture Tara. God Bless.
Now this is very cool love the street lamp.
Perfect capture, excellent done.
I love this shot of the building, but I also love Bill's posting as well both POVs are wonderful and both of you included a street lamp
excellent
WOW! That is an amazingly beautiful building, and I love the "corsage" of this globe-bearing lamp post too. A double whammy of gorgeousness, with your wonderful treatment...well done!
Interesting juxtaposition of the lamp and the building. Nicely done.
wonderful POV and like the details of both !!
I think your's and Bill's work well together. This shot emphasizes the architecture and ornateness of the building while Bill's is more about the size.
Great picture.
:)
Yes, I was a bit surprised to see you posting the same building as Bill. BUT, this gives a beautiful view of the decorations at the top. This really brings out the art nouveau in the building. Nice to see it IS visible from lower levels. Both your photos really complement each other. Since you two see things from different perspectives, this "posting of the same subject" from different angles can be a lot of fun, but also give another perspective on a specific subject. Nice you decided to do so in this case. Keep up the good work! :-)
WOW! Such a fantastic building and also you did a great job here :-D
Excellent POV !!!
Great capture Love the street lamps Hugs Susan~
This is another super capture of this lovely building that has stood the test of time. I love the light too with its beautiful big orbs.
Great shot!
OK, I am way behind but just wanted to congratulate you on your "artist of the year" win!
I like this capture, the distance from light to building is so well fore shortened here giving a really neat play with scale. Did you have to get on top of a car for this shot?
Fantastic POV and details. A superb shot!
Very intriguing shot. Love your compo, unusual, very interesting angle, makes the lamp post feel like a living entity.
That was a time when buildings were designed to be beautiful as well as functional.... Sad those days seem gone forever; replaced by glass and plastic clones for the most part. A lovely shot, Tara - and I'm sure you know I'm absolutely drooling over that lamppost....
