Description
The Sydney Harbor Bridge seen from the Circular Quay City-Rail station. The bridge was Sydney's symbol until the Opera House came along. The bridge was completed in 1932 at a cost of $20 million, but it took until 1988 to pay off.
On the near side are 'The Rocks', Sydney's first area of White settlement. It has now many old buildings, including the German restaurant 'Loewenbraeu'. On the far side is North Sydney.

Happy New Year to everyone. I will commence to comment soon. Still getting my bearings, paying bills, going through the mail and getting back into the old routine. I suspect that most people relax when they go on vacation. I am just the opposite. My schedule in Australia was so tight, one missed train and everything would have gone down in flames. Now, since I made it back safely, I am beginning to relax. Go to sleep late, wake up late, and don't get caught up yet in posting and commenting. Have a nice day,
Sig...

There is so much to see when zoomed. Are you standing on a train platform? Looks like a crusie ship dock to the left...two white covered gangplanks. As for the bridge...it is iconic. Fab shot my friend. Good to know you are back.

very Nice shot sig..Happy new year...:)
belle vue
The 1932 opening ceremony was interrupted, when zealous royalist Francis de Groot rode forward on his horse and cut the ribbon, in honour, he claimed, of King and Empire! The single span arch bridge, colloquially known as the 'Coathanger', took eight years to build, including the rail-line. BTW (we also spell it Harbour not Harbor) now there is a little bit more 'useless' info for you Sig, - LOL BB
Thanks for the spelling lecture but since I am no longer 'down under' I revert to spelling 'Harbor' the way we spell it here in the good ole US of A!
That is a wonderful shot of the bridge. I remember watching the January 1, 2000 fireworks that were set off from the bridge (watching on TV).
Great shot of the Coathanger eh.
