Description
This is Growley Pants and her mom. This is the day that she had to leave.
I am permited to rehab wildlife in my state. We are not allowed to rehab some animals because they had the misfortune to be born a species that humans have decided are to be destroyed. We are required to put down any coyote pups, skunks and bats that are brought to us.
Growley is a "coydog". She is half shepard and half coyote. The owner of the shepard drowned the rest of the pups. A neighbor saved this one. Since she is a hybred, the state does not recognize her as a wild animal. Like many hybreds, she has turned out to be too wild to keep her. She needs alot more room to run and play. She can not be released here as she would be shot on sight. Coyotes are classifed as vermin and can be shot anytime. After many tears and searchng, we found a nature center that has lots of hybreds and the room she needs. Her mom loved her enough to let her go. I took this picture just before she was crated to leave. I am not a professional photographer, but I wanted people to see the love in their faces as well as the questions in Growley's eyes. My brother convinced me to post some of my pictures of my wildlife. He posted a picture of my last raccoon release a few weeks ago. I was very glad to read the comments. It is nice to know some people still care about our world. Thank you for caring.

I am so glad Growley Pants (love the name) has a home to go to. Her mom will miss her but can she go & visit? I do hope the lady with the shepherd will be careful with her bitch & make sure she has no more as obviously she didn't worry re drowning the pups. Love to see more of your pics. x

Beautiful portrait and a sad story. I never understood people who could drown innocent baby animals, take them to get them put down humanely and suffer the cost. Hopefully the owner has since gotten the shepard spayed. May Growley Pants live a happy life in her new home and always remember her kind first-adopted Mom. The true measure of a person is in how they treat the least ones~

What a gorgeous creature! This is a wonderful image. We have very good friends here who have been involved in wildlife rehab, and they ended up with a wolf hybrid (crossed with malamute, we think). Somebody brought the pups into the center, and of course they couldn't be released. They've been able to keep Jobu and provide him with a good life and lots of love. Welcome to Renderosity! :)

I saw those racoon releases including the beautiful one with the little guy giving a last hug. Good on you for saving Growly and for having the courage and honour to release her to where she will do best and be safe. The only vermin that should be shot on site is the vermin who would shoot such creatures, and the legislatures who pass such assanine laws.

This is a stunning image and one of the things I've noticed is that Coyotes and Coyote-lookalikes have such long and vaguely quizzical faces. They always look as if they're getting to the root of some grand existential riddle. I'm always amazed that there could be such a thing as a "vermin" animal. Aside from bedbugs, I have yet to encounter anything even vaguely related to vermin. I suspect that coyotes suffer the condition they're in simply because they're not interested in stroking the human ego, and there are humans (some of whom are vermin) who thrive on having the human ego stroked. This is a marvelous capture, and I love the crispness and clarity. More pictures in your gallery would be most welcome. By the way, I love his name. Mr. Growley Pants. Perfect!

So glad that Growly Pants found a good home!! I have really enjoyed your brother's pics of different kritters that you are helping and I really applaud you for what I know is hard work. I cannot believe that you are not allowed to help bats! Scientists are VERY worried about the bat population, as whole groups have died from the white nose disease and here you are supposed to kill bats. Doesn't make sense to me, but then that is the government for you! Looking forward to seeing more of your pictures!
