Description

The beach at Durley Chine on New Year's Eve. It was only 13.20 ish according to my camera but looking threatening. By the time I got home the sun had come out..that's what I love about our weather. Today, however, we got the rain! BTW several folk ask repeatedly about the 'lampshades' on the top of the groynes. They are to stop boats or swimmers impaling themselves on the end of the pole when the whole thing is submerged at winter spring tide highs. This happens only rarely but could become more frequent with changing climate.

Beautiful capture of this angry looking sky. That is quite the high tide you get in the winter.

Ohhhhhhhhhh ... I LOVE this! What a gorgeous shot! That hematite-colored light is absolutely stunning, and I love the graceful curve of the swell against the groyne. Beautiful!

Magnificent mood ambiance and textures in this shot of the apparent storm clouds moving your way, Andrea. A boring unwinterlike stretch of bright sun and warm temperatures have a tight grip on our local weather here in Southern California, with no rain on the horizon.

When I was stationed in England, I used to do 15 minute maintenance checks on engines in the little barrier huts on the flight line. One day the weather went from sunny to rainy to overcast w/o rain to light snow and back to sunny in while I did the check. I'll take that over endless days of scorching heat any day. I do pity your weather forecasters sometimes though. "Today there will be a high of 10, a low of 5, and varying amounts of sun, clouds, gales, and precipitation throughout the day." Beautiful image! I love the layers of clouds, and the light on the wet sand and the gracefully curved wave coming in. Excellent capture! Thanks for the info. Very considerate addition to the groynes (new word for me). That could ruin someone's day. It's hard to imagine the water so high.

It does look a bit gloomy, but interesting! Thanks for your comment earlier. My cropping in the Nixie shot adds some mystery with the veil and though some may like it better cropped as you suggest, it would then be just an eye shot without any mystery, but we certainly all see different things don't we? LOL

He he three days ago we were on our way to Pretoria Zoo and as soon as we were on our way it started dripping. Needles to say when we reach home it stopped raining and the sky cleared later on in the day. weather can be a bummer. Stunning capture Andrea. God Bless.
