Description
This is an odd image to wish everyone happy New Year; but have a wonderful 2012, everybody! I am way behind in rendering all the new goodies I have, and I want to thank gypsyangel for the gorgeous Dark Dahl Vialle, who is a wonderful tough-chick Goth grrl. In poser 7 I clicked off "texture filtering" so the detail that Laura put in shows in the Diffuse channel (I think the filtering is a holdover from the days when we all used crummy little jpegs to save memory, and the files had to be blurred to hide artifacts. Maybe Poser 8 and up don't do this!
Poser and some photoshop on the hair and joints here, and a little extra for the costume.
The necklace and collar are by Rhiannon, but I can't remember which set they are from--maybe River or Sira Black. The texture on the purple Esmerelda is probably Parrotdolphin's, I use her textures all the time. Hair is Vanessa hair by Val.

Happy New Year! A great portrait and a detailed endorsement. Just for info, texture filtering isn't an issue of not having detail quality. It's kind of the opposite. In real life, when detail is too small, you can't really see it in full focus, so it kind of blurs together. In a renderer, you have to specify focal blur and it's kind of a big deal to setup and use. But fine detail rendered regularly, especially when it's small, can produce artifacts like moire patterns and clumping. For example, hair textures, often have 2000+ px textures with 1 px wide strands, but get rendered so the entire hair takes up only 300 or 400 px. They can render with problems that texture filtering will fix. In general, it's not an issue and the detail suffers for being filtered. It would probably be best for images to default to "None" rather than "Quality," though P9/PP2012 has a "Crisp" setting that's good, too.
