Description
Crown Fountain (public art/pop culture) in Millenium Park, Chicago.
...The fountain is composed of a black granite reflecting pool placed between a pair of glass brick towers. The towers are 50 feet (15.2 m) tall, and they use light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to display digital videos on their inward faces.
... While some of the videos displayed are of scenery, most attention has focused on its video clips of local residents; hundreds of Chicagoans visit the fountain hoping to see themselves appearing on one of the fountain's two screens.

Lovely work,
Way cool Idea Bill is your face on there.. could display wanted felons on there for all to see lol..
unusual and oh so interesting
a great idea
Wouldn't it be a shock to see your own face there!!!! Great shots Bill.
Neat idea! It would be easy to postwork your face onto it. Would be neat to see Chip and Corey in there because they are the 'faces' of Chicago for me now!
Mate I reckon those light-emitting diodes would explode with fright if my ugly face ever got on there!
Wonderful! I'm not usually keen on conceptual art, but this concept is clever!
Cool stuff Bill...
Oh wow this is really cool love the way they do this and would love to see all of that.
...Hundreds visits hoping to see their faces!'..... Well, seems the deperation to be a star in any form retches new ugly lows.. I hate the Ppop Idol 'thing' and this is a branch of it.. Sorry to be so negative but of a culture gone wrong, not of your excellently taken picture my friend.. Sort of thing they would erect in Stamford claining 'It fits in.....' Rob
Wow, that is amazing, wonderful capture!!
I was amazed when I saw these first a few years back...wonderful capture of these two local faces in the fountain!
Awesome capture Hugs Susan~ I got up a new one too hope you drop by:)
Very different and a unique capture! I do admire the clarity with which you've captured this, and my Goodness, what a surprise it might be to see oneself one of these unknowingly... :) May you and your loved ones have a beautiful Holiday and a happy, inspirational and healthy New Year!
wonderful shot
Wonderful arhitectural concept and photo Bill!!
Shades of futuristic sci-fi movies! Terrific color and clarity in this cool capture of a technology I didn't know existed as yet, Bill.
really an unique display
Very cool. We do not have such imaginative things like this here. Unfortunately!
As I understand it, nobody would be up there and not know their picture had been taken. It was a city-wide art project, and people volunteered and sat for the portraits. They're perfectly lined up. When water spurts out the front, it comes from between the lips of the portrait! They're totally uniform. A fun fountain, and I always enjoy seeing it!
A stunning piece of art, very creative! Thanks, Bill! Clive
What a cool shot of these interesting walls :-) or posters :)
Great capture of a really cool sculpture, Bill! Love this idea - maybe we could get one of these in KC!
amazing beauty
How amazing and what a super idea. A lovely capture.
Has a surreal quality to it - fascinating public art & a great shot...
Oh, I love these. I don't know how they do the faces! It's something of a tourist attraction in Chicago to look for the cameras that record the faces (some people think they're hidden in The Bean!) I like the way you captured the colors here and you can make out so much of the environment. And now, you've got me wondering where those cameras are, too...maybe they're in the towers themselves? We should explore that.
That is very cool Bill! I love the photo and the concept.
