Description
Near Channahon, Illinois, on the I&M Canal.
This was our first stop after leaving Chicago.
A bit different from the hustle and bustle of city life!
We loved Chicago and enjoyed every minute of our time there, but drew a deep breath, shifted gears, and enjoyed every minute of our time on the canal!
Thanks to Yvonne (lovelypoetess) for steering us toward this marvellous place, and for joining us on that Sunday in Chicago.

That could have been me at various times. Very nice image.
What a beautiful place this is! glad you guys had a great time in Chicago too! Very wonderful photo here!
Great place, looks like a fishing float stuck in the tree.
Fantastic capture.
An image of sheer enjoyment!
Nice catch (ha!). I've never caught a thing and probably couldn't kill the poor thing if I did but it does look like a great place to sit and spend some time.
Nice moment and atmosphere here, warm regards
Stunningly beautiful capture-Nice to see the real water that has not been softened to look like mist
What a peacefull scene!
Cool capture hon hope he does not slip from there but nice scenery shot.
Oh I love the feel of the this most relaxing image. :)))))) Being out and hearing the sweet sounds of nature is so much better than hearing the sounds of the city. :))))) Most excellent capture my friend. :)))))) Thank you for sharing. :))))) Carry A Smile In Your Heart :)))))))
Looks like a place I could spend a long, lazy afternoon just watching and listening to the water. Wonderful capture!
So peaceful! Isn't it interesting how the technological structures of another century are now turned into places of peace and enjoyment - old canals, old railroad beds, the Hi-Line in NYC.
Now there is a lovely shot1 And further more, I bet it sounds good as well.. Great photo Tara! Rob
One can be overwhelmed by big cities after a while and then it is a relief to come to such a place to rest mind and body :-) Wonderful shot, Tara.
Nice scene. The fishermen look very contented - and why wouldn't they be in a place like this. Well done.
Fine composition...makes me stare at the quiet fun these two men are enjoying. Fishing is not something that was taught to me as a boy...it is one of those things like golf and tennis I think I'd like if I had experienced it in an earlier life:)
Wonderful place! Excellent work! :)
A lovely spot for a bit of fishing and recover from the big city. I wonder if the fish were biting. A lovely photo.
Another lovely shot, Tara! I can just hear that water cascading. I love the interesting layers of color here - fascinating. Like Mike, I could just sit there all day enjoying the peace...
Oh, I love the fishermen perched, rather precariously! This is quite different from the hustle and bustle of the city on the edge of the lake! The colors are spectacular and the whole scene looks like something from a different age (with the exception of the very modern dress.) This is a brilliant shot. I love it.
Most excellent lighting !
amazing spot!
Very peaceful - where catching a fish is just a bonus! Clive
