Description
...Mandy did stay in the car!
...this picture taken from a position about 40 feet out on the old Highway 97 bridge (no longer open to traffic) over the Crooked River Gorge in Oregon.
...that's 300 feet straight down...and you don't see the edge or the gorge until you get right to the stone wall at the edge.
Bill
P.S. The sign is actually in the parking lot.

Great view. Maybe a slightly higher fence is needed. The first step looks a dooooozy!
There's water and fish down there!!!!!! Nice shot, shows the depth neatly.
wow I like this bridge. very good pov of it
Nice shot and watch your step the first one is a biggggggg one, the bridge does look great, well done!!
pretty low !! but looks beautiful too!!
I can never understand why so many owners let their dogs off the lead on the Dorset cliffs, with tragic and/or expensive results. The lifeboat and coastguard are called out often for them. A scary looking slash in the land!
that first step looks a big one
Fantastic capture.
Great capture Bill and that is a long way down.
You would never really expect this judging by the adjacent landscape...great shot!
I think the sign is fully justified! Beautiful photos, Bill!
Excellent :)
gorgeous view!
Great shot. Makes me dizzy.
Er! Yes, that's a drop for sure and I think signs in BOTH the car park and on the edge would be an idea!? Brilliant shot though.. Rob
Great shot - interesting scenery.
Amazing capture. Girls would be kept well away too. xx
WOW! That looks really dangerous. But is is a beautiful shot.
Wow...this is a grand shot...
WOAH! What a drop! Holy smackers! But isnt it just mezmorizing to look at!!! I love this!!!
Outstanding capture of this beautiful bridge and gorge!!!! Awesome POV!!
Yikes, it makes my knees go watery just looking at the picture! Great capture!
It's a 300 foot drop. Amazing place! Those sheer cliff walls are fascinating. You did a good job with this, even though the light was in the wrong place. The vegetation patterns caught my eye. SO much to see!
Look, there's a sign.......I can't read it........let me get a little closer...... Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!! Well, I'm glad Mandy stayed in the car! :-D That's quite a shot, Bill! And remember - it's not the fall that kills you - it's that sudden stop at the bottom...
Fantastic image Oh and the poor lil dogs that have died there...and the sign even warns people as well...........how do they ever get down to get the dogs and take them away if they even do???????????? Looks like a pretty awesome place................I would stay in the car myself I am afraid of heights............ Tis a fav with me Hugs Susan~
Yep that's the difference between a gorge and a canyon. You don't see the drop until reaching the edge! Great image Bill, like the bridge!
That is a sheer ravine! Enjoying the tour, Clive
Super POV and Andrew is right - that first step would be a killer.
