Description
Needs a full size peak I'm afraid.
Continuing my offbeat perspective, grayscale, exploration of London, England series.
This one is for Chipka (Chip from Chicago) who shares my love of gritty urban landscapes for photo opportunities. Take a look at his "In Transit" and you will see where I am coming from.
Glow was shot hand held at night somewhere in London's east end. I was riding with a small group and bringing up the rear, of course, because I was the only one stopping to take shots. I was quite far behind (again of course), when we crossed this street and I looked down along it and Whoa! Those lights in the slight gritty mist of a London September night, and the long shot down that street - I just had to stop, drop the bike, point, shoot, and get going again. I had no time to compose the shot; it was just a pure instinct grab and go.
Of course being a fast grab, hand held, night shot it was far from crystal clear but really it was the atmosphere I wanted to capture as much as the scene. So here I photoshopped in a bit of streaky noise to give a kind of a dreary, grunginess, which might well fit the seasonal London atmosphere of the scene anyways (and hopefully masked a bit of the imperfections of the shot.)
Very much appreciate your support of my photographic efforts. Thank's guys.

Marvelous place and capture Roxy, superb atmosphere, beautiful photo and dedication, in full screen is really amazing! very well done!
I know of Chip's work, and I just bet that he will more than appreciate your gift. Bravo Roxy.
Very cool shot!!!!
Both images, yours and his are excellent. I like that yours is a bit shaky and blurry. It has a very surreal look - a moment frozen in time - just as Chip's is but in a different way. These little alleys like this are so intriguing. Sigh, we just don't have them here do we? I loved the ones in Lyon (Fr). So many interesting things there!! I think you'll like that hair, Roxy. A plus that it's for M and F both!!
I love shots like this - and the Chipka influence is definitely evident here, even with the slight blur - which actually enhances the 'feel' of the location, and circumstances of the photo. Nice one, Roxy! :-D
Awesome image I know he will love this Hugs Susan~
...Excellent image, well done!:)
cool shot Roxy, like the blurred fx and super b&w capture.
Great photo here Roxie, and I too love that glow it gives off
Wonderful capture!!
Awesome capture
amazing atmosphere and the camera work is beautiful... mesmerizing capture Roxy.
The out of focus lends itself to the grit. Good idea to add the streaks. Very cool and moody shot. Would love to visit there again some day.
This is another truly amazing piece--Chipka will love this!
Beautiful photo!! Love the atmosphere you were able to capture! I envy you that ability I've taken one good photo in all of my life. My sister had the photography talent (it was impossible for her to take a bad photo.)
Your photography skills are just first rate! Love the urban gritty feel to this!
Nice gritty scene, this proves you are quite a versatile artist, photography, writing and 3D imagery. A talent that is not quite common.
Interesting idea but it lacks too much focus for me. I think taking that extra few seconds to use a tripod would have nailed it.
This is very nice. The blurr makes this picture ageless, Jack the Ripper could be round the corner :))! Excellent!
Excellent shot.
Excellant capture. I can almost see Jack The Ripper hiding in the shadows also.
Beautiful photo! love this mood. Roxy-sensei
Great capture!
Well done - what in interesting atmosphere you've captured here - mysterious, maybe a bit sinister but engrossing.
Superb shot, beautiful atmo!
Excellent shot, very atmospheric, great job :))
Perfect capture of London's mood & atmosphere ! :~)
Stylish image for sure. And again, as with the previous photo, you captured strange things - figures of two walking persons coincide with the side posts, which creates a strange look and adds to your target atmosphere.
This is great, love the mood you captured.
