I walked up the High Street and was most amazed to find the walls of Cardiff Castle. I did not expect to find a Castle there!
Cardiff Castle (Welsh: Castell Caerdydd) is a medieval castle and Victorian architecture Gothic revival mansion, transformed from a Norman keep erected over a Roman fort in the Castle Quarter of Cardiff, the capital of Wales.

Splendid shot Clive. I have been to the walls but never into the castle or grounds.
To me, the thing that this photo screams at me is 'The Time Have Changed'. Can you imagine a day when to avoid an enemy, all you had to do was hide behind a rampart. Now the rampart, and city around it.....and the world around that, could be turned to glass in the push of a button!

I suppose they have to keep 'em somewhere! I suppose you know the Pyramids are right across the street from Cairo. They only look like they're out in the middle of the desert if you stand in just the right spot. Castles must be everywhere up there! We don't have any, of course, except for Disneyland, which totally doesn't count. How fun to just sort of run across one! :)
