Description
I took a closer look at the original image and realized that the levitron was not out of focus per se, but rather I caught it in the wobble
if you look at the rest of the objects around it, you will see they are in focus - sharp detail.
However that is moot as I have three shots of the device, with the camera on a tripod and various auto and manual shutter settings and lights and yada yada yada.
Enjoy this image
Mike

Interesting... ")
Fun toys...
OK Mike Sorry, just looked like it was in DOF mode the bg was sharp but the spinner was fuzzy, you didn't say it was spinning when you took the shot. I like the top shot of the three here where I can get a real good look at it and the bottom looks a bit like yesterdays shot where it is blurry and the BG is sharp as yes it is spinning folk lol..
let's see it in action Mike... It just looks like a double edged nose trimmer to me = lol
Three Awesome Images.
Oh, well, now that you've explained it - never mind (with apologies to Emily Latella). Interesting set of pictures.
these are better than the first post.I like the top.I am going to do a search for one of these.may not be able to afford although
Does it really levitate or is it fixed to a spindle on the side there? Seems to me that if it were 'at rest' it would be lying in the trough. Sorry for the questions, but I'm a bit confused...or maybe not. Cool pic :)
Nice!!!
This is so cool Mike, and thanks for sharing more pics of it as requested
This is COOL shot mike.
much more detail my friend, lots to observe.
Superb and dynamic image Mike, very cool capture my friend, very well done!
But is it levitating? How does it work? Do you have to plug it in? More info please. I'm hooked.
I have seen one of those they can spin for a very long time, cool shot
Here is a link where you can still buy them Mike. I paid $5.00 for mine but that is about 10 years ago. now they are about $9.00. So still quite affordable as a desk toy. http://www.amazon.com/magnetic-levitator-classic-ultimate-anti-gra/dp/B0038I6R2Q?SubscriptionId=AKIAIC7OGUB5FWDR6DJQ&tag=howtogetfre03-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B0038I6R2Q
I have yet to buy one of these, but I've seen them around. I rather like the way it vaguely resembles the "unimpressive" aspects of a probable alien engine of some sort. It would seem that when technology becomes sufficiently advanced and able to do things far more efficiently, that many of the "familiar" aspects of "machinery" fall by the wayside and we get things that sit still (or spin) while doing lots of work, but with fewer moving parts. I love that, and I'm intrigued not only by this bit of scientific photography, but by the possibilities that frictionless spin might open up, especially in terms of just every day stuff where maglev technology might come in handy: provided we don't nuke ourselves or suffer cultural meltdown first. I love these shots, especially the top frame showing the object at rest.
Cool piece of equipment, what is its function besides spinning?
fine equipment.
Great Mike! Very interesting.
Interesting Mike!
Almost looks like it could be a perpetual motion machine! Great shots, Mike!!!
Ahh that's better for my (still) tired eyes!
Yes please advise what you use it for. Interesting piece of machinery.
Awesome shots.
