Description
I captured this Statue (or Monument) at the Navy Pier on Lake Michigan in Chicago in January 2011 and then postworked it to within an inch of its life to create some mood. I have no idea what it honors - I was too cold to read... :):) Chip and Corey will know exactly how cold it was that weekend!
Thank you for popping in and for your very welcome comments and favs on my last upload "Room With a View".
Hugs

What a brilliant result, Carin! A very striking image!
This would be a lead piece in the Monochrome/Black and White gallery...talk about crisp and clear with beautiful contrast!!! Whatever you did postwork-wise came out superbly...yeehaa:)
really - cool shot !! excellent photo dear carin !
Well done, Carin; it does look awfully cold!
Love what you have done, amazing pic!!!
A super image and silhouette Carin, great work.
Superb capture Carin. God Bless.
Superb composition on this dramatic capture! :)
My money is on Great Lakes mariners. I'm certain it has nothing to do with the Gorton (R) fisherman or regular Navy [lame attempt at humor]. Nonetheless, a striking image. You done good. Weesel high-five to you.
WOnderful shot and I like the softness :)
Wow. That is an absolutely spectacular image, Dierbaar! Gorgeous postwork! I detect a bit of our favorite set in this. :P Beautiful result!
very lovely image and great postwork
Love it!
great capture , excelent light and pov , many thanks for your visit and comments
I have seen several statues so similar to this, and I think maybe this one as well, on the Great Lakes and the Atlantic seaboard. Not so many on the Gulf Coast or the Pacific coast. Mostly I've seen monuments with Saints and anchors there. I love the flat lake, the lonely expanse. Gives honor to those lost on Lake Michigan.
Awesome picture!
Grew up in New England looking at a similar statue honoring those that go down to sea. The Great Lakes are just as dangerous as the open ocean. Especially this time of year! The mood is captured perfectly in this!
Fantastic b&w shot. Superb POV and impressive depth.
Beautiful composition and image , Carin ! Well done !
This just works, Carin, a super composition. You achieved your results very well, Clive
what a stunning capture! great!!! *********************************
I love how you silhouetted the statue with the background being in sharp detail
Stellar choice, Carin! The b&w is most fitting here, and sets a very special mood.... With November 11, coming up... it definitely makes us all stop and remember. Excellent presentation and artpiece!
This is a great capture, it looks cold outside, great for the capture
Super clarity and I am guessing it is in memory of the sailors that lost their lives sailing the great lakes.
