Description
...Neil, one of my aviation mates, posted what he titled, "The Mullah Mig (for Kger99)". Here's a link for Neil's 3D post: Click Here
...today this MiG-15 sits quietly in the back row of the Korean War section in the USAF Museum at Dayton, Ohio.
...after this MiG was thoroughly evaluated by the US Air Force at Wright-Patterson AFB, it was offered back to the "rightful owners" (North Korea), but the offer was ignored.
Bill
P.S. worth a zoom for details.

Super set of pics Bill.
there is a Mig sitting outside at Forney TX in the elements slowly falling apart and an occasional hit by vehicles coming in and out of the parking area.outstanding ahots
Very cool shots and collage of this Mig, Bill! Looks great!
Very good photos, Bill. I like the full front one showing how the air intake is split to make place for the cockpit. I doubt many people think about the split and, if they do, why it's there. Looking at the engine, though, I wonder where the air intakes are (I don't see any). Fuel pumps and combustion chambers are clearly visible. Nice job. Nice seeing the outside from different angles. I bet Neil will be quite tickled by this post! :-)
Great collage of this Mig Bill, well done!
Memories huh, Bill? Yes, these were kind of out of the way.. But now I think they have pushed the Korean War exhibits to the fore and given several new paintworks.. A GREAT collage mate for a super artist and friend! Rob
The F-86 Saberjet headache on display. Fine POVs of the MiG-15 in this cool collage, Bill. The perfectly round barrel shaped fuselage really comes to the fore in these fotos.
Oh cool!...it was interesting reading up on the event, but then you present this, the actual aircraft.Sure Jeremy will enjoy this as well, all that aside another excellent aircraft collage. This really shows off why it was called the 'flying barrel'.Thanks for the dedi and takeing time to dig these out (must have been a job and a half with all the pictures you took :-) Cheers Bill....much appreciated.
GREAT CAPTURE
Don't know anything about planes but good capture!!!
Fantastic collage, Bill thanks for sharing
Neat looking collage Hugs Susan~
Excellent background info- I too am amazed the pilot sits plumb in a little island in the air-flow of that whopping engine- I'd feel really nervous, like I was about to be "munched" up.
Great collage of this awesome aircraft!!!!
Good presentation and good to see it in its original colors. A friend of mine had a Polish two seat Mig 15 (SB Lim 2) and he never repainted it, it was in Polish Air Force colors. He couldn't afford to fly it himself due to fuel cost (he had a contract with the US air Force weapons training program at Nellis) so he sold it and bought a ... Mig 17! (How's that afterburner workin' out for ya, Bruce?)
I like the top-left shot. It has a nice shiny bit! :)
WOW worth a zoom is right brighten up me eyes for a better view cool too warm hugs, Linda
wow, some 'ride'!!! eh 'flight'? ;-D beautiful pics, love the POVs
Excellent collage of this old plane... ok maybe not that old but old enough :) I guess they are from about the 60´s... MY ex hub collected pictures from planes in the 60´s..the only reason I have for saying this lol.
really good shots
marvelous shot
You always give these planes such a beautiful, golden touch and this one is no exception!
Tell em i'll have it. But seriously this is a great post Bill giving us a chance to see the heart of this wonderful aircraft close up :)
Super collage. Really good shot
it was a very good machine... great collection and info, Bill!
Great shot Bill. I love the rumble of the Mig engine. We did the same (evaluate and return) with a Mig-25 that was flown to Japan by a defecting pilot!
Fantastic collage Bill and learned a few things from your link to Neil's posting.
