Description
This afternoon I read a story over the Internet about a two-year old girl who was hit by a car. The driver backed up, running over her again before speeding away. For twelve minutes other drivers and pedestrians passed by the little girl. No one stopped to help. During this time she was hit again by another car. She was finally taken to a hospital but is not expected to live. I could not believe people could be so callous. It is stories like this that make me despair for the future of humankind.
As if in answer to my feelings I read another story not twenty minutes ago about a mother who sacrificed her life to save her unborn daughter. Read the story and watch the video. It will break your heart. It might also give you hope.

I read the story and touched my heart. It's amazing how far can get the love of a mother. As for humanity,we will always find within it the worst and best. The most sublime and most evil. In my country we are suffering a terrible atmospheric phenomenon that has caused us enormous damage. And we have seen heroic acts on par with the most despicable actions. I think our duty is to refuse the evil, with all our might. live life as best we can, and if possible, such as Baden-Powell said, leave the world a little better than how we found it.
The two faces of humanity. It is incomprehensible to me, that they could walk by and leave a little one hurt and in danger. Thank you for the other story. A brave woman showing the beautiful face of humanity. I hope little Dottie has a long and happy life.
Two astonishing and very different stories. Thankyou.
I read about the one little girl in China didn't hear about the other but thanks for the link
I'm sitting here and my tears walk.... around the little girl and the sick mother who has given everything. How different the people are ..... cold and cruel. And self-sacrificing love. The heart of a lioness. I still dare to hope that there are still many, many good people. You deserve to be "man" named.
Veramente una triste storia , Mark ! Preoccupante ! Truly a sad story, Mark! Worrying!
Incomprehensible! if you ask me - what is the motivation for such callousness? I can only shake my head in disbelief, I believe in Karma and salvation ... Yin & Yang, Alpha & Omega etc. Thanks for sharing this Mark, no matter good or bad, BB
I wonder sometimes why sadness can give hope more meaning I suppose and a thought learned kindness...everyone needs warm hugs, Linda
Get used to it. People are heartless animals. Not just behind the wheel of a car.
That is hard to read about, I can not imagine anyone turning away from someone in such need I don't care what the age. Thanks for sharing both of these stories.
Both stories are amazing and they show what it is to be human...the good and the bad; unfortunately there seems to be quite a lot of the bad. It's also amazing how stories like these replay in all of our day to day lives, though in more subtle, often in ways that are harder to see/recognize, and I have to say that in terms of both stories, I prefer the latter to the former and I can only say that in terms of people who cause suffering or ignore it, thus allowing it persist, they don't have the right to call themselves human and I wonder what steps we should take (if any) to offer appropriate punishments for such criminal acts.
