Who am I to turn down a request from a great artist like T.Rex? Here are three more LST pics for you, my friend.
The deck view looks back to the "island" structure which contains command and control, the galley, and crew living space - which was very limited in size. I'm sure the WWII sailors would have appreciated having a utility golf cart. The crain is the real deal. The deck space was long and wide enough to carry a LCT (Landing Craft Tank)for an ocean voyage! The wheelhouse was very small, as every compartment was excepting the main "tank" deck below. Located on the stern of LST 325 is this 20mm Oerlikon AA gun. It was a commonly used weapon on U.S. Navy, Royal Navy and Canadian ships during WWII. France, Germany, and Japan also used derivatives of the Oerlikon design for aircraft guns.

THANKS a LOT for the photos! While the crew living space looks quite cramped, the wheel house looks more spaceous than that on a destroyer from the same period. The broad deck would make a nice target, and since they were open (no compatments) from end to end, a hole below the water line was no trivial matter! The craft in the davits are infantry, so I assume the LCT was strapped to the flat deck with a good size crane to lower it into the water, and thereafter some tank into the LCT. Good shot of the Oerlikon (Swiss made, high quality, later made on licence in several of the belligerent nations of WWII). It's nice to see people get together to preserve something like this, though it hasn't got the glamour of a destroyer or other fighting ship. Photos like the ones you've posted help keep the memories alive, and to raise the curiosity of the young generation so the sacrifices are remembered, and also as a warning "Don't let it happen again!". Keep up the good work! :-)
My uncle served on one of these as an LCVP driver. He and the ship got stranded on a reef for some time.

Wow! I would loved to have spent a while looking around this beauty! Great shots all mate.. I'm sure, near Rosy's, there is an old junked out MTB boat.. It sure as hell looks like it to me! But trouble is its in private land AND in woods now (they have grown up).. I tell you, it sure looks like it! I will try to get a shot.... Got your mail, will reply mate Rob
