Description
The two USAAF "Liberators" (40-2370 and 40-2374?) destroyed at Broome in March 1942 were both B24A/LB30 "transports." I've decided to model the type to do some airport scenes at Broome and because I already had some Liberator "DNA" to tweak in Shade. In the process I've learn more than I really needed to know about Liberator evolution, but that has been necessary in order to untangle the B24A and LB30 designation. It seems LB30s were derived from several Liberator varieties. B24As and other early models were sometimes "borrowed" from consignments bound for England. These machines also seem to have retained RAF "night bomber" camouflage during their American service. B24As lacked turrets, had a shorter, glazed nose and round engine nacelles. The thought of one, '74', up against six Zeroes in the early moments of the attack is not pleasant. Photos of the war-bird B24A/LB30 "Diamond 'Lil" have been really useful since the few contemporary photos are very blurry.

Another cool model Brian, I have a photo of a British LB-30A in flight and this is spot on.I look forward to this appearing in the airport scene, just hope we're in time to see it before it goes up in flames ;-)
