Description

In response to a rather embarrassing bit of praise by Jim. Ananda Coomaraswamy is very interesting indeed. a link Here I have altered his quote to be inclusive..he actually said 'man' which doesn't bother me at all but I know some folk are upset easily about stuff. For those of you who have seen this before I apologise: you can pick yourselves out in the crowd. This was my department philosophy when I was head of Art at school, and I painted it over the door on the wall. Graffiti r us.

Thank you so much Andrea. This is a wonderful sentiment. I agree about the idea everyone is a special kind of artist. It just takes some of us longer to find our medium than others. This is the best king of graffiti :)

I totally agree! There is one style of painting I do that anyone almost any age can do and get a great result. I've helped people who think they are not artistic make their own painting with it and they end up amazed and proud. "I did that!?!" Yes, everyone is an artist! Wonderful you've posted this for us all~ =D

Marvelous, what a talent you have, Andrea. Such quick, such a fantastic image. I read on Jim's gallery you became an idea, now I see what a beauty and clever image your idea was/is.

This is wonderful. I have had many people say to me they are not at all artistic, and I say nonsense, of course they are, all they need to know is how, and taking a class helps with that.

I hadn't seen this before; very nice, including the inverted crosses as noses, and not what I consider graffiti.

Thank you so very much for the link - there is sooooooooooo much I don't know as yet? In my family it was frowned upon to be an artist and never furthered, rather subdued and now in my old age, I am learning more than I can ever believe is available - you are a great teacher! BB

Head of Art? So you were in management then! Somehow the idea of that really appeals to me. This is an absolutely charming post. It would make a fabulous greeting card. Thanks for the link.

Really nice drawing - and really true words. Karl Valentin (a German comedian in the beginning of the 20th century) said once: "Art is nice, but needs a lot of work"

The use of 'man' as inclusive of all humanity, doesn't bother me either. "No person is an island", just doesn't have the same ring. Wonderful drawing, quote, and information. I love all the variety of people. I like the lady on the right with her head cocked. Beautiful drawing of the plants too.
