Description
Zona Sul is where the upscale neighborhoods of Rio de Janeiro are located. They are Copacobana (not shown in this picture), Ipanema, Leblon, Gavea, Jardim Botanico, and Lagoa. Also located here are the Joquei Clube and the Hipodromo da Gavea, and the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas. Located above Jardim Botanico, higher up on the mountain slope in the foreground, as well as on the mountain slopes in the middle distance and above Gavea are falvelas (slums).
