Description
Zona Sul is where the upscale neighborhoods of Rio de Janeiro are located. They are Copacobana (not shown in this picture), Ipanema, Leblon, Gavea, Jardim Botanico, and Lagoa. Also located here are the Joquei Clube and the Hipodromo da Gavea, and the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas. Located above Jardim Botanico, higher up on the mountain slope in the foreground, as well as on the mountain slopes in the middle distance and above Gavea are falvelas (slums).

Dramatic and fascinating. Heck if we ever get to Rio we'll know the city already. Really super at the zoom.
wonderful landscape!!!!!
The topography, and the way people have snuggled into the usable land, is endlessly fascinating to me. Wonderful shot! It kept me entertained for a good long time! Zoom is great.
Excellent shot! You make such fine use of light and shadow! And, as always, I very much enjoy your "travelog," too. :-)
