Description
(The English translation of the title is: Here is the guardian of the temple of life and death.)
An ancient Sumerian legend tells of a goddess, guardian of a temple, who asked to anyone wishing to enter there if he was willing to sacrifice himself to live or to die. In both cases, there would be a price to pay, and this was no money or other material richness.
There are so many things that money can not pay or reach!
About the stone represented in the scene as a monolith, it is a temple hymn to Iddin-Dagan, king of Larsa, cuneiform (Sumerian script) inscripted clay from ca. 1950 BC. Current located in the Department of Oriental Antiquities of Louvre Museum, Paris, France.

Interesting composition. Well done!
Beautiful composition. The light is particularly effective. I wonder what price the man struggling in the mud will have to pay for his admittance.

Your concept is very interesting, The render is wonderfull!
Superbly composed, Whylma. It is nice to see you poosting again. I am so busy these days that I rarely get a good look at the galleries. The legend, like all legends just stirs the imagination, gathers one up in a frisson of other-worldliness, and makes one wonder, 'What if it had been true?' I was privileged to visit the Louvre last year, although my daughter kept asking why I was looking at 'all the bits of old stones' ... ;o) Having spent early years on holiday next to an iron age fort, standing stones and other such magical places in fields adjoining my grandmother's in Ireland, I have a certain affinity with 'old stones'. Warm regards, from a chilly, damp, autumnal Glasgow, JOhn.
Fantastic composition
it's not my style, but it does not lack style. It's pretty!
