Description
This is the main floor hallway at the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse. Yaquina Bay was one of only a handful of lighthouses where the light was part of the lighthouse keeper's residence.
Stand here in the hallway with me. Behind you is the front door. Directly to your right is the living room. To your left is the staircase, and farther to your left is the dining room. Walk straight down the hallway. The first opening to your left, under the stairs, leads to the kitchen. If you continue down the hall and curve around to the right, you will find the oil room.
Up one flight of stairs are four bedrooms, and up another flight of spiral stairs is the light.
The Yaquina Bay Light was originally lit in 1871, and decommissioned only three years later when the Yaquina Head Lighthouse was finished, but that's another story for another time.

Omigosh, everything about this is simply stunning. The curves, the light, the wood, wow!! What a gorgeous shot!!
What a stunning shot, especially the way you captured the light.
very good shot of this tricky confined spot
It looks an almost desirable residence until you realise what it is! Beautifully done, the estate agent would be SO pleased.
A lovely capture Tara, nice living while there was good weather.
super interior shot
Beautiful shot.
Lovely light and a dandy composition...good story too!
This was a very nice 19th century home. Like the interior details...wooden walls and very wide baseboards. The creamy color and the light...so nice. It is difficult to think that for some years this lighthouse stood completely abandoned. So glad the town folks banded together to save this...just for us to see and photograph:)
Well, its not unpleasant is it! Your shot has caught it well and 4 bedrooms, thats impressive! Rob
Very cool shot and great description

A great capture Hugs Susan~
Really nice shot, Tara. :)
Beautiful lighting, but oh it would have been cramped living there.
this is a nice space here
What gorgeous form and light - this is magnificent, Tara! The way this looks makes me want to pack my stuff, and move in! I could dig a job just keeping the light lit! LOL! Sounds like a lovely place to live - as long as I can get my HS Internet, I'd be a happy camper!
love hallways always have to wonder around and open doors have a sunshine weekend, Tara May warm hugs, Linda Kaye
Nicely moody shot, and a wonderful you-are-there description. Makes me want to go there now.
Great shot, would be a good addition to the Vertical Lines challenge this month- thanks for sharing! :-)

Excellent shot!!!
Your description makes me want to live in a lighthouse Tara. Especially this beautiful one. Wonderful soft light in this hall. Lovely shot.
Great photo!
I never considered the role of lighthouses in anything like human life before your series of lighthouse shots, and I'm so glad for that perceptual shifts. For me, they rank right up there with castles (with bears in the moats rather than water) and that makes them all the more intriguing and somewhat haunting, since they're different things now. I really love the goldish, creamy colors of this shot, the wood tones, the living space colors and that really nice curve going off to the right. Marvelous. I really like this shot!
