Description
Last month I spent a day on a friend's trimaran in Balboa Bay (southern California). It was one of those sweet, warm, sunny, sparkly days. I took this shortly before we (well, he, lol) rowed back to the dock. The orange you see in the bottom middle of the foto is plastic mesh to keep the seals off the boat.

How very summery! Not having a seal problem here, I think i'd rather like a close encounter..
Lucky you, I'd love an afternoon on a boat of any kind, even if I had to row it myself! Look at those little starry sparkles, what a lovely shot!
lovely scene
Very beautiful capture
this is wonderful work
Row, row, row your boat, gently up the stream..... Stunning contrast, clarity, lighting and quasi silhouetting in the shot, M!
Lovely shot Marilyn a seal problem on the boats never heard of that before.. interesting!!
Beautiful capture! :)
Love the glittery surface of the water. I can imagine an afternoon out, just bobbing around. Nice!
to smile and watch warm hugs, Linda
Love the sparkling sun on the water. Summery indeed! We are freezing cold today.
Sparkly sparkly swankish! Love this! Lucky you. I haven't been on a boat in I don't know when. Love those perfect days. We're actually getting a few here in Chicago amid the standard up-down-sideways nonsense. Today is pretty nice, thus far. Great photo!
This is probably gonna sound weird, but I'd love to actually have a few friendly close encounters with seals. I mean, you just don't get that kinda stuff in Chicago...I guess the main reason is because we don't have seals! And like Pavl who knows more than he should about hedgehog poop, I suspect there are people out that way who know enough about the seal stuff to not like it either. But anyway, that's so out-of-left-field-random, which is typical of me. The purpose of this comment, however, is to say how much I like this shot. And being from Chicago, those palm trees (despite the unfortunate ones outside of the Water Tower and temporarily placed near Oak Street Beach) are deliciously alien! They're perfect in silhouette. This is a great shot! The sparkly sparklies are really nice too, so inviting and relaxing and overall fun.
Great capture and a wonderful example of why we live here.
As the comments above, the sun glittering on the water steals the show. Mesh fencing to keep the seals off the boats - that is new to me BUT very creative. :>) Dana
