Description
Today, Jo and I went to Union Station in Kansas City to see the "Diana: A Celebration" exhibit - an impressive collection of memorabilia of Princess Diana. Very impressive - especially her wedding dress with its 25-foot (!) train.
Unfortunately, photoraphy wasn't permitted inside (which is common with exhibits of this nature), so I don't have photos of the display for you.
What I do have is this.... Can you guess what it is part of?
Taking a que from Tara (auntietk), I got in close and took several photos of parts of...it. And taking a que from Mike (faemike55), I'm going to let you guess what this is part of. I'll post a photo of the whole thing in a day or two.
I did a little bit of fiddling with filters in Photoshop for this image. Hope you like it!

Hope everyone has a great weekend! I'll be going on the "graveyard" shift next week - 10:30PM to 06:30 AM, so I'm likely to be walking around bumping into things for a few days, until my sleep cycle rearranges itself.

Hmm the tap fitting is for water (or a liquid at least), it's feeding into an engine block of some sort by the look of it, certainly something with works under high pressure. Maybe a steam engine?
What an image. I love the image itself and the postwork. As for what it is, I suspect it one of those things used to allow the function of another thing. Actually I think it's a steam valve knobby-handle on something that needs steam release? I'm guessing by that dial. Whatever it is, it makes for an intriguing and really well-captured photograph. I love your postwork choices as well. All in all, this is a marvelous piece of work.
I know EXACTLY what this is! It's a superb abstract, wonderfully composed, with great color and contrast and excellent postwork. The division of space is masterful, and even the light adds to the beauty of the composition. Out-frakkin'-standing, my friend!

I know this could come from anywhere...but I know there are antique fire engines at Union Station. I also know that there are mechanical rooms under the station that controlled the steam heat. I see what I think is a steam pressure guage. I'll guess a fire engine with some type of steam engine for pumping water. All that said, I agree with Tara...a superb abstract:)
Bloody Hell Rod, I gaven't much of a clue what this is? I would say part of an early fire engine knowing I'm gonna be wrong. I like the post effects you have put on it (whatever it is!). I did nights for 10 years and hated 'em - it takes 42 days for your body to adjust back after doing just one nightshift, which explains why I was always knackered - I don't miss 'em now ;o)

Graveyard shift. ugh been there. Walked around like a zombie..Remember when I got off the shift. Was cleaning at 2am since I couldnt sleep...Body does adjust.. Have no clue what this is a part of..Some type of valve attached to a compressor?
It looks like the handle that controls the water flow on the side of the engine i have probley mugged myself but oh well lol !!

Interesting photo Rod. I will go with my very first impression: Looks to me like a part of an old fire engine. Cool Photoshop effects.
From my experience in the brewing trade I am certain this is a gas regulator of some kind, not liquid gas but gas in the literal sense. But what type of regulator I cannot be sure. I see it is a dual gauge so there is a tank under pressure being monitored and a line being regulated.
