For all the D-Day vets, especially Dad.
Keep in mind that there were many official D-Days during World War II in Europe and the Pacific. The unofficial D-Days numbered in the millions.
I once asked a U.S. Marine who fought in the Pacific what he thought the Corps toughest battle was. He put it this way: "Historians like to pick out the toughest battle in the history of the Marine Corps, or Navy, or Army. The reality is the toughest battle for any serviceman might have been a 10 minute action during a patrol in some nameless patch of forest, or floating on a life raft, or surviving one more day in a prison camp."
Indeed, there were and still are countless numbers of D-Days for our brave servicemen and women.

There was a comment by Marine Sgt Maj Dan Dailey (sp) about how he got his second Medal of Honor... When a local paper asked him how he had gotten it, he replied " I was picking posies for my girl back home when some brass hats came up and pinned it on me" He refused to talk about it, even though he was one of the most fightingest marines to ever have come down the pike. For him each battle was the worst. It usually meant losing a friend. I am a former marine, and i have never met anyone that actually had been in combat and bragged. If they are, then they havent. These are the worst memories you can have. Great job with the pics and the words! 5+

OK, I have hit the 100 to go mark and this one is # 33. I am going to comment on each one. I saw who Is #1 and was a surprise. Also One artist/vendor is on the list a lot. She must have thought I hated her. I uploaded my very first animated GIF , but it does not animate when I look ed at it. She is supposed to stick out her tongue at you. Anyway except for this the preamble were typed on the spot and please allow for typos, misspellings and disjointed thoughts. Wow I have never been there. My father served in the Navy as did his father all the way back to John Paul Jones. I remember my father mentioning his scariest time was when the kamikazes when after the smaller ships like his. My mother spent the war in a Japanese prison camp. My Grandfather and my uncle somehow escaped. Of course my mother was just a girl and likely not that afraid thinking she was indestructible. The only thing I ever got out of her was she was very hungry and how wasteful the Americans were. She was a citizen but had never been to the states being born in the Philippines. I do not think this country will ever be as united as they were in WWll. Look at all the conflicts since then and support falls away so quickly.
