Description
Filene's has been one of those iconic department stores for as long as I can remember. I think it started in New York, with sales that turned people into maniacs. I'd never been in one, so when my sister and I passed this window in Boston, we had to go in. We didn't have much time, which is probably a good thing, cuz, wow!! The sales--omg--the SALES!!
ps--Filene's Basement?? It's upstairs!! lol

lol I have never heard of them but if they have sales like that I really want to see one. nice shot and story behind it
Very cool capture and interesting information
I've never been in one of their stores...but sounds like it would have been very, very dangerous!
This one is new to me. Nice reflections on the upper window of the 'basement'.
I've never been into one of their stores. Having worked in retail when I was younger, I HATE those big door buster sales now with a passion!
Wild horses couldn't drag me into a store having a big sale! Yikes! That doesn't stop me from enjoying your shot of this iconic store. :)
I like the reflections you've captured...as for the store name...it is new for me too:) But I'd love to walk through Boston with a camera in hand...and no rush in my schedule.
Yep. We got one in Chicago. I'm surprised you didn't go into that one, but then if you did, you'd still be here, but for me, that's not a bad thing. And yeah, talk about iconic! This looks like Michigan Avenue, and it's not...that's just how iconic this is. What I like the most, however, is that reflection; it's like a snapshot of Boston itself without Boston actually being in it, if that makes any kind of sense (I'm drinking Czech beer with Corey so I might make an odd sort of Pavl-sense, which is, ultimately, loopy.) Anyway, all Czech loopiness aside, I really like this shot, and I love the way that you've photographed something familiar, yet it seems distinct and completely not-so-familiar. This is a good shot. Really.
What a fab shot, Marilyn! I have a set of scents that a friend bought for me in the NY Filenes.
You have been in one of Boston's great icons. Love the clarity. Dana
wonderful capture warm hugs, Linda
