Ok, I do have a bit of a "thing" about the lifeguard stands at the beach. First of all, any girl who grew up near the beach had a crush on at least one of these guys. How could she not? They were cute and tan and buff and we all had fantasies about them. Back in that day, they sat on glorified chairs, getting fried in the sun. Today, it's high tech; their main location on the pier looks like an air traffic control tower, full of attennae, highly sophisticated electronics, and they drive fully equipped trucks up and down the beach. (and some of them make BIG bucks and are not as young as you might think!!)
But the stand themselves...those same girls can probably tell you how fun they were after dark, when they thought they were being SO sneaky!!
(and yes, this is the same boat from a shot I posted the other day)

A wonderful shot, lots of atmosphere. I too live near the beach and wouldn't have it any other way.
the shack is really cool, but your memories from your youth are smokin hot lol. great capture
AH! those memories! I rather like the older ones nowadays!
Very good capture and great description
The thing that keeps people from drowning in Puget Sound is the temperature of the water. Nobody goes in swimming in the first place! LOL! It's pretty hard to get in trouble over your head if you can't get in the water over your ankles. :P This necessity of another world is amazing to me. Sort of a "locally exotic" thing. Gotta love the extra rooflines that don't really hide the basic box. Aside from all that ... this is great! I love the limited color range and the soft vibe.
excellent shot
...and your lifeguards have wings and love hot chips by the look of it!
And, if you also remember, Lifesavers come in a variety of flavors: lemon, lime, orange, raspberry, etc. Cool ambience in this pic, Marilyn.
I can hear the Beach Boys singing as I type. Marvelous shot! Dana
wonderful capture warm hugs, Linda
hahahah thought you was talking about the bird as the lifeguard. wonderful image
Great shot and walk down memory lane Marilyn!!
Love the compo and colours here, well done!
This is really quite nice. It's funny because it looks like part of a conning tower on a ship, or maybe even an air traffic control tower thingie. The funny part too is if I squint and kinda blur my vision, it also looks like the sort of ornate hat a nice Church-Mama would wear on Easter, especially on the South Side of Chicago, where Church-Mamas fight to establish dominance as "alpha female" by attempting to out-do the hats of the competition. I have no idea why I thought of that, especially since the thought of cute lifeguards is far more appealing, but there you have it. The mind of Chip doing whatever it does. I can say though that I really like this shot. It's solid and concrete, but it strikes me as nicely abstract too.
Oh yes, we all heard tales of what went on in those towers! And then therre were the bonfires on the beach. Fantastic composition. I see the gull is doing its part.
