Description
Nature reclaims its own, but in a controlled manner.
Captured 10/18/09, at the beautiful Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens in beautiful San Marino, California.
Better viewed full size.
Again, more shots I took on the grounds following the Orchid Show. I don't remember the name of this particular building, but the ivy coverage is somewhat unique, to say the least. Why this dichotomy? I would think that there would have been a more equal distribution along the wall. The Huntington boasts an efficient maintenance crew, so this couldn't be accidental or by neglect. Actually this is beyond my ken and just speculation on my part. Andrea is into this stuff, so she might know.

Wow looks incredible !!
That looks so cool. Love Ivy covered buildings. Not sure if it is good or bad for the structure, but sure looks nice.
How beautiful! My guess is that there was a removal on one side of the building, for one reason or another, possibly death of the base plant or maybe some structural repair had to be done. Looks like a new one is working to fill in, and likely will match the other side within a season or two. Great find, I love this!
Great shots here Harry, and it really does appear to be taking over fast
do like this. wonder if it bad for the building over a period of time ?
Well spotted and it certainly does look as if one part of the building has been given more manure than the other but as one doesn't manure ivy I have no reason to give you for the difference. Maybe they were trying to clear some of it off the building so that it didn't get taken over.
Beautiful shots and now they don't have to paint the building. :>) Dana
Nice to see.
Oh I love seeing vines do this...totally AWESOME. My house is overgrown with trees on the back side now, but no vines:-(
Wow, simply amazing network of veins spreading over this building.. Fabulous.. Possibly one of the best Ivy shots I've seen Harry, really well done.. Rob
I like the semi covered wall. It shows the patterns of the branches. Excellent captures!
Beautiful work~~
