Downtown Eureka was rehabilitated and gentrified years ago but if you wander down some of the alleyways you can still find echoes of the old town.

Some of these back alleys are a bit grim but often there is a good pic to be had. Nice clear shot.
I think The Hague NL is one of the few cities in the world where the 19t century parts are ALIVE and popular (as in.. the richest area in town). Cities that neglect their heritage will soon find themselves without tourism and an important source of income..
I think it's a good thing they haven't touched some of the old character. Once the character is gone, the city dies. Very well captured.

What a great place Eureka is! Beautiful shot. I love how they removed the old window to modernize and electrify it. I guess they weren't going for esthetics.
