Description
I am recovering from a chest infection and had to visit the hospital for a chest X-Ray the other day.
Thought I'd take my camera and have a little walk afterward.
My first port of call was just across the road from the hospital - a rather elegant square with a garden at the centre.
The following is on a board by one of the gates into these gardens:
In the 1800’s, this square was created at the centre of a smart housing development on the main London to Bath road. William Wilson Morley, who owned the site, was so impressed by the elegance of the London Georgian squares he decided to bring one to Reading. He created the central garden between 1835 and 1840, and divided the surrounding land into building plots for elegant stone houses.
Eldon Square, modelled on the Georgian squares of London, with large trees, shrubberies and decorative perimeter railings, is listed Grade II in the English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens of Historic Interest.

Beautiful garden, interesting facts beautiful work!
A beautiful garden, but the houses caught my eye...so very, very pretty! Such character to the buildings!
Glad you are recovering, I wish you a speedy one, lovely place, outstanding capture!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like the houses, too. Completely looked past the garden. I love them! Makes me want to go here for a visit. Quaint and warm behind the iron fence. Nice shot.
