Quite a haunting sight...great light and lots of deep, dramatic shadows. Love it when you photograph a plane I don't even remember seeing. After scouring the Boeing Museum of Flight website, I found this to be a General Motors FM-2 Wildcat. It was supposed to be inferior to Japanese Zeros but nobody must have told Joe Foss that:-)

As always, the light is beyond gorgeous. I've heard of Captain Foss, so this makes your foto far more meaningful.

Well done, the tones and composition are exceptional. I remember reading about Joe Foss in military history books - quite a man.

Cool lighting and sepia effect in this foto. And, yes, Captain Joe Foss, later Governor, and one of my boyhood heroes, who was raised just outside from where I was born in South Dakota.

Beautiful capture of the plane; it does look like it's seen some hard usage. And the link says it all. Well done!

Fascinating composition on this, Tara! It's almost a ying-yang composition with the opposing dark area and illuminated surface of the airplane! Superb capture, my dear friend!

This says it all: ready to go into battle, leaving at 5:00 hours ... gentlemen start your engines ... sorry, wrong category, but just as intriguing, well done Tara, BB
