Description
A few seconds after from my last post of the lava breaking out, the other photographer still has not notice this. I had to call him. In other words, he was blind to his surroundings In a statement USAnomad has made "Really there is just one simple rule to follow. If you don't know the terrain or it's dangers, YOU DO NOT BELONG THERE!" This is so true! A woman on a lava viewing tour was injured in a fall early Friday evening. According to a written Fire Department release the woman sustained a compound fracture to her left ankle and facial trauma from the lava. A county helicopter arrived at the scene shortly after 6 p.m. and dropped two rescue personnel to assist, then airlifted the woman to a waiting ambulance on Highway 130. Police closed the highway for 10 minutes to accommodate the chopper landing and the ambulance transfer. The woman was taken in stable condition to Hilo Medical Center for further treatment. She was 71 years old.... There are people advertising for lava tours. But the fact is, there is no legal lava tours on ground to the danger areas. Aloha and thank you viewing.

There's endless fascination in the lava. I'm really sorry that we missed seeing any on our trip to Hawaii. Thanks for all the wonderful shots, and keep them coming.

Lovely shot of lava tongues~ >.< Sounds like the woman was lucky to have made it and someone was $ greedy to have taken her there. Perhaps the dangers were downplayed in the interest of making $. It's not like a hike along a greenway path on a riverbank I'm sure.

wow if i go there ; you be the first person I look up. I know you know what going on and warn me of all the dangers and to see if I fit body wise. I think a 71 year old may not be fix for uneven ground in the first place. best for that person i guess is to hire a helicopter to look. 'look like three touges is sticking out at me here.
Amazing shot. It is the same type that would sit and dangle their feet in the blow hole on Oahu when I lived there. Here one minute, gone the next second.

Sensational shot Errol! Your image shows some great detail. From the colorations in the lava as it reacts to the cooler air and how the viscosity of the flow is effected. A great insight to the creation of this lava field!
