Description
The Mask Temple at Lamanai is the smallest of the three temples excavated and restored at this site so far. It was built between 550 - 650 AD. At the lower right side facing the temple is a 15-ft. mask showing a human head with a crocodile headdress. The mask is covered with a plaster shield to protect the limestone mask underneath.

What a beautiful ruin!!!
An interesting capture and I'm glad they are trying to save this ruin.
How interesting, that they covered over the original. Makes me scratch my head a bit. I'm sure they have a good reason for plastering over that part and not other parts ... Hmmmmm ... you've got me thinking! Excellent image.
