Description
The staircase at the Chase County Kansas Courthouse.
Mono this time, because what caught my eye was the shape of the curve, over and over again.
There was just so much to like about that staircase!

Very beautiful shot, excellent POV.
I have loved finished wood ever since, at the age of six, I was awakened early in the morning by my father and his friends working on an addition to our home. They let me help out while I was in my pajamas. An old woodworker's motto is 'Measure twice, cut once.' I like the curve of the staircase. The workmanship is exquisite. I also like the beautiful grain that can be seen where the light hits the stairs. A wonderful image.
Beautiful curves!
Very invating curve and only our imagination is a limit what we find on top of the stairs. A deep mono is perfect.
I love the feel of finished wood. If I were going down these steps, it would not only be my wonky knees that would lead my hand to keep constant contact with the banister. I'd hope not to me anyone, because I would definitely want to walk down on the left. That's enough about my minor fetishes, this is a wonderful image! Lovely curves, lines, and corners. Beautiful in mono! Excellent POV and light!
wonderful capture smiles warm hugs, Linda Kaye
Simply delicious, Tara! This is PERFECT for black & white. Wonderful composition, and super detail - you can almost feel the wood railing. You know, between you and Bill, you have me DYING to go back to that courthouse, and spend a couple hours.. Wonderful photo, my friend!
Nice shot of the staircase it looks great, love the curve and the wood!!
oh what a wunderful scene, good render, well done
Wonderful, elegant, old staircase, Tara. Excellently captured :-)
A really beautiful shot and I am sure that you are right in mono.
I would have loved to have watched them making the staircase, nice B&W a touch of sepia would have added to it.
Such beauty, elegance, style, and I'm so wishing I could handle it. Superb composition.
Wonderful perspective! Excellent shot! :)
Excellent composition and what a beautiful staircase. Lovely work!
marvelous shot!
excellent shot...in close enough
Beautiful capture, very nice B/N.
Beautiful.
This picture bring the sense of running my hand up that long curving walnut railing...and for some reason the texture of the carpeting on the stairs strikes my eye this morning...you've captured the essence of this delightful, antique place. How fortunate we were not to miss this gorgeous old building. Who knew??? :*
Beautiful woodworking skills set off so well by your photographic skills. I sure am glad it's not my house though, my knees be quaking at the though. : )
Your photos are always so striking and this one is no different. Excellent subject and capture, Tara!
That is a beautiful staircase and the carpet really goes well with it too. The B&W really does make the curve stand out beautifully.
Beautiful image...'can "feel" the textures.
Fantastic POV and contrast Tara!
Great capture!!
Your POV and toning of the image are perfect! Very well done, Clive
Rockin' cool. Love the b/w and the way it curves out of sight. Reminds me of an old movie but I'm not sure which one. Very cool.
