(Bug Comic)
I have to apologize for posting this one out of chronological order. It takes place at Halloween 2402, which is why I wanted to pose it now.0_o
Lots has happened over the summer for Rain,(which I will post later) but mostly Bryan just moved stuff into his new apartment, worked on lesson plans for the fall, and did research on bug populations that were in the tiny town of Newton in 2100, in preparation for visiting Newton in person the following summer (the gallery post where he got this grant is here "Drive Thru Pudding" .
He also went to the zoo with Staci, the beach with his family, and the opera, tried without success to figure out who rescued him on Pearl Street, got lectured by Staci about trying to pick up people in bars, and moped about his love life, or lack of same.
His mood was not helped by the fact that Leo, Date Number One of the
"Year of Dating Stupidly"
has matched up with Reeds the Goth poet,(also on that image) and seems incredibly happy. They are also here: "What Superhero Are You"
Leo's hair is no longer green, his grades are now excellent, and he seems to have tossed out a lot of the "toys" that were such an annoyance to Bryan before. He and Reeds were supposed to have matching Halloween outfits, but Reeds had to go on a business trip ("I have to dress up as an adult for Halloween") because the Goth Poet has a dark secret--he's one of the main writers for the hit comedy Hollywood Chihuahua, which is how he can afford a Victorian mansion in the fancy part of Ellesburg and his princely faux-vampire wardrobe. So he went off to San Jose in the Republic of California; and rather than waste the costume, Leo had Bryan come over and wear it, and co-host Leo's Halloween party. Reeds called from California to see how it was going( and who was there), and Leo said "Nobody special..just Bryan so far."
Nobody special..it occurred to Bryan he'd never treated Leo as anything more than a convenient friend, so why should Leo think he was special?
Bryan thought he'd been a better friend to Nate and Staci than to anyone he'd ever slept with. Maybe it would be nice to be special to someone. Even just a little.

i really like Leo. he's so happy and playful. a perfect counter-balance for Gothic angst. i can understand why Bryan isn't in a relationship with him, but he seems like a really nice (if not very careful or thoughtful) guy. but then, i've always had a soft spot for otters. i love the outfit, especially the painted hat. somehow it seems fitting for all three characters. Bryan less so, but the bare shoulders and light gloves suit him. this looks like a snapshot from early at a party. which makes me wonder who's taking the picture. i love details to the story, like the running thread of Hollywood Chihuahua. in the picture, i like the bits like the Egyptian style paintings, the pumpkin, and the glittery stuff Leo has. i can't wait to see more of the different stories. i hope you return to Avila and 22-301 at some point, too.

Brilliant image, just love how the two are juxtaposed in expression, emotion and hue. Fantastic in every way.
WEll, 1st...nice hat! 2nd, you'd NEVER get me into lace stockings....ever! But then, I can see some guy from the 1600's saying something like "Denim? Thou wouldst fain see me dressed in such a vulgar cloth!" And of course I see a bowl of candy on the floor heh heh.

LOL they put me in the mind of the comedy and tragedy masks! Poor Brian, he looks so unhappy. He needs to eat some chocolate candy and he'll feel better. Maybe Leo will sprinkle some of that magic dust on him and something wondrous will happen. Fantastic costumes!

You've put together some excellent and well fleshed out characters for your 'Bug Comic'. I wouldn't mind seeing them all in order with the whole story played out. It seems like a lot of the pictures you do are scenes from their day to day routine. It interesting, but it's harder to get a sense of whats happening with the story as a whole. Great looking picture and characters!
