Description
Captured 7/31/10, at the American Civil War Reenactment, held at the vast and beautiful El Dorado Park in beautiful Long Beach, California.
Better viewed full size.
Five fotos out of a total of eighteen that I snapped of these military musicians playing songs from the Civil War.
A temporary respite from the conflict on the battlefield to depict this small musical segment of the Union Army, playing favorites from that long ago era, such as My Old Kentucky Home, Camptown Races, patriotic marches, etc.
Incidentally, there was no Confederate equivalent of this group.
And, the civilians at the upper right in foto #4 were forming a conga line to keep beat with the music.
Tally ho, thankx for dropping by, and for any and all favorable comments and favs.

Excellent set of shots! It looks like a beautiful day under the trees, for a musical intermission in the war. Lovely shadows on the ground, wonderful colors, and great captures of the different players. I'd rather play than fight anyday. Though those hearing might have other ideas.
What amazing shots making for a very pleasurable viewing Harry. I loved your interesting intro too, hugs Jane xx
LOL!!!! sorry, any mention of Camptown Races sends me off on a Blazing Saddles moment. What is that old guy playing? I've never seen a 'whatever that is'.Looks like someone dropped viagra in his cornet. I really like Military music and even all the way over here one of my faves is 'Dixie', the South definitely had the better 'theme tune'. OK...I wasn't going to mention it but......"What's with that drummer boy"? he should have a bubble over his head saying "this is not what I signed up for".
Fascinating as always, Harry.
Awesome shots interesting and excellent work!
An army needs a good band and this one looks as though it has drawn everyone in with their music. Excellent captures and a great collage.
Conga line? LOL!!! What a wonderful addition to your series, these shots are wonderful, Harry!
Does this mean the north won this time? Nice set of photos to create this collage. Dana
What a fun collage. I am sure the music was sound excelent. March, battle, dressing, music. This series got everything.
Great collage Harry! I really like all the wonderful instruments. That drummer boy does look a tad lost! Looks like a very talented bunch!
Again an interesting series of fantastic shots. One really feel put back into a another time.
I LOVE the watercolourish, illustrative feel to these images!! The dilute colours really suit them.
Most excellent captures Harry! No audio to go with these? ;-)
Great shots! Would love to hear them on the glorious day these were taken on! Wonderful collage once again.. Super work! Rob
Excellent addition to the series. They look like a fine group.
There ya go - you got coverage of the important folk now!! My family supplied the music at the reenactment my mother set up in her home town. It was a grand old time. (We did not see the "Santa suits" though - hence my confusion earlier haha.) We also did not have a conga line so I am jealous. lol
this is wonderful
