Description

I was admiring "Sunlit Charlie" from Charley (Callad), and I wondered if I could use Carrara 7 lighting to simulate the great Lux Render results she got on this very glamourous pic. And of course, my usual obsessive self, I felt I had to try to duplicate everything else in the image too LOL! (I couldn't figure out where she got that fabulous dress and jewelry, so I had to make do...) This was a play project since I had only snippets of time all week - I had to hit and run, adjust and render. Over and over and over again... And so this is the final result. Nothing like learning by imitating an expert! The lighting is not too bad, but one thing is crystal clear: Charley, you always and forever will be the undisputed master of this kind of image and you have absolutely NO fear of me unseating you from your exalted throne! LOL! (BTW, for the Carrara tech heads: HDRI skylighting, one distant "sun" light, one "fill" spotlight)

I put both pictures on the screen at the same time to look at both and compare - YOU DID AN EXCELLENT JOB! I love art that is comparable like this, I think this is the first of two similar images I've seen here in over 2 years. I like your eyes better - they look confident, alive... the other a little tired. I liked the other legs better, she's got "hip action" going. I like her "warm" colors on the skin - your image would of looked soooo much closer if you would of went with warm colors - red, orang, yellow... I see a hint of blue in yours which is cold. Another thing I liked about yours, since it did have the blue/cold feel, you have reflection behind her on the landing - it looks like there was a hint of rain... so, I am glad you went with the blue lighting. both of these are HOT and COOL = EXCELLENT JOB!!!

She's gorgeous! I know nothing about the Reality plugin or Carrara, but both images have their own special charm. Excellent work on this beauty.

Great work on this, Larry! You're right - there is no better way to learn than from an expert. I think this is technically the best work I've seen from you - the posing and the lighting are superb. It was really courageous of you to try to duplicate the effects of the DAZ reality engine - it is a pretty awesome piece of technology - but I think you did an excellent job. I agree with mikeerson that Callad's colors area a bit warmer, but I don't know if that is the lighting or the post-work. You might try adding a touch of orange to your sun light if you want to warm up your images. Overall, a brilliant bit of work, mate. Keep it up! (And of course we're looking forward to the next installment of the Aranée saga.)

lol For a split second I thought I was looking at my image! Apart from the colortone (not postwork but created in Lux with just one sunlight in my case) you got it spot-on! grin I see you place her one step higher on the stairs and I noticed you haven't used the shoulder fix from Corvas (a must-have imho). Although your dress is different you came very, very close with it! (I used the Dynamic 'Little Black Dress' with a freebee texture on it) On one thing I have to dissagree with you..I am not an 'expert nor a 'master', I just fiddle around, that's all :) Great job Larry!

A great image in its own right and I am sure a terrific learning exercise for you too! An interesting approach to copy another image, and you got real close!

Very good. Reading your comment I noticed that using the car approached a lot of the original image rendered with Reality. Have not used the Reality in DAZ Studio, but apparently the results are excellent.
