Description
... with apologies to C.S. Lewis for stealing his title.
This is the Crown Fountain in Chicago's Millenium Park. I was inspired to go back and look through my Chicago images for this after Chip proxy-posted a picture for Corey of the same fountain. Corey's pov was different from mine ... the tower with the face would have been behind him as he took the photograph. If we'd both been standing there at the same time, he'd be in my image.
Each tower is about 50 feet tall and is made of glass blocks. The internal structure is visible under certain conditions ... you can see the scaffolding-like framework in the near tower.
For those of you who would like more information about this fountain, click HERE to read the Wiki. It's quite fascinating ... SO much more than just a rectangular brick tower!

Pretty Cool ! :)
Wonderful and cool! Great capture
What a clever and beautiful photo. I can imagine the sound of the falling water. Awesome Tara :-)
Outstanding composition. If you hadn't told us I wouldn't have guessed they were the same height.
Splendid picture!!!!
Hi Tara, thank you for this fine picture. Now I know a little more about Chicago, the front yard. Good to know, all the best Bernd
Thankyou for that link! Now I see the point, I start to like and enjoy it!
Beautiful composition. and colours
Nice shot ... I was there in summer and it was wonderful to see kids playing in the water, with jets of water sprouting from the mouth of the faces ...
Nice capture well done!!

I will just have to visit this! A must see place foe sure! Very well done, Clive
Beautiful work!!!
Excellent composition!! Great image! :)
Stunning angle Tara! I remember this vividly and should actually post mine too - even though it is from 2007!!!
First of all, fascinating subject...secondly, I can tell you had a lot of fun postworking this presentation. The use of selective coloring is A-1. Last, but not least, your use of perspective is dramatic considering both towers are the same size. REALLY niceeeeeeeeeee.
Wonderful shot and information; I didn't realize they were glass bricks (I guess if I'd stopped to think about it I would have known-DOH!) Really lovely work!
Interesting image! :)
Your diversified gallery including this is absolutely incredible..excellent
That's an amazing structure! I didn't even notice the internal framework until you mentioned they were made of glass blocks! So much for being observant! LOL! Wonderful photo of these really neat towers!
Excellent civic art.
A beautifully constructed and composed image, Dear Tara! I do admire the colours and the rich texture of such a fine artpiece! I would never think this is made from glass... such a magnificent structure! I really like the POV, absolutely incredible!
Wonderful photo
I found this very interesting, then I read Bill's comment. Now I find it stunning, when you said both towers are 50 feet tall I assumed the other was out of shot. Now I know, it's brilliant...great pov and depth perception.Marvelous stuff.
Interesting concept and excellent capture. Dana
WOW this is cool wonderful capture warm hugs, Linda Kaye
Pretty cool and weird! Not my thing but, I'd watch it none the less! Cool shot Tara! Rob
excellent !
This is marvelous! I love these fountains. I was there in 2005 and took some shots, which are on film, but nothing as wonderful as this. I love your work. You are so inventive with how to capture structures in fresh and distinctive ways. Your POV and selective coloring are suberb! Excellent image!
