Description
These are the sleeping accommodations aboard the U.S.S. Constitution, except a lot more crowded. I’m a little over 6 feet tall and banded my head many times. Those sailors must have been 5 feet tall to live in this ship.
Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments.
They are very much appreciated.

Wow, must have been fun when the ship was rolling in the waves. Nice image, Thanks for sharing.
Great capture, Dana! those hammocks look comfortable
Very comfy and cozy. ;o)
Oh, my aching back with those hammocks! Spartan as all get out, and not exactly your typical bedroom environment. That said, nice shot of the low ceilng sleeping quarters, Dana!
guess they sang 'rock a by baby to sleep" lol anyway i think big people like you and me was use on land . wonderful shot on how they sleep
wonderful photo!!
I suppose they had to have hammocks - difficult to have a bunk up there!!! Great shot Dana.
Brings back such happy memories of my teens!
Nice shot of a classic "bedroom" on board the old sailing vessels. Taller men were used top-side. Hammocks are supposedly quite comfortable and do NOT entail you falling onto the deck as the ship rolls, which is why they were used. The sleeping person also remains quite still as the ship rolls. One can also pack people more closely in a confined space. The hammock rolls up and is easy to stow out of the way during the day. I'm still wondering about that white paint job - must be for the sake of the lighting. In battle, the decks and walls would be red. Keep up the good work! :)
It would take me half the night to get in one :o) Interesting info from T.Rex!!!
fabulous capture!
Great capture, Dana!
Talk about tight quarters. Cool image. :)
Yes, it would be odd to have coworkers sleeping elbow-to-elbow like that, and what if the one in the middle had to get up to use the facilities? Would he knock everyone else out of their swing? Oh well, I guess it must have worked or they wouldn't have used them, eh? Great capture!
Wow, thank you for sharing. This will also look good in the backyard with some trees around you.
Great and interesting shot.
LOL! People were shorter back then. ;) Great capture!
