Description
Here's a quickie I put together tonight in between other projects. I just picked up some new toys in the RMP, including two of Vanishing Point's EXCELLENT models: the Pathblazer SUV, and this magnificent SR-71 model. I just had to composite this model into one of my photos from the flight back from Florida.
The SR-71 "Blackbird" - also called "Habu" by it's crews is one of the most magnificent aircraft ever created. Although most of them are retired and appear only in museums, there are still a couple in service for NASA. Of course, who knows what other secret organizations may have one or two of these.....? ;-)
More information is here: Wiki - SR-71.
I'm currently working on page 10 of the Girls From TNA. Hope to have it ready in a few days!
Thanks as always for your views, comments, ratings and faves! It means a lot!

Built to frustrate the enemy: anything that could fly fast enough couldn't fly high enough and anything that could fly high enough, could fly fast enough.
Loving those vapor trails...Superb Work! -Will-
Fantastic work Rod! You had the perfect background for this magnificent bird! Looking forward to the next TNA! :)
Wow this is amazing !
Fabulous render Rod and super plane, very nice indeed.. Yep great vapour trails too, well done! Have a super day my friend!!
Great composite and yes, those vapour trails in full view are really well done. Very crafty filter work.
i think august schwengel is on the way to get one of these, for his drug trafficking organization, after all the shit he does has to be financed and protected lol. very nice one.
Very nice, it looks surreal but real! Will be waiting for the TNA Girls!
Hi Rod, is this your private jet???? Wonderful looking artwork, very well done! Have a nice day/evening, Ute
great jet rod, cool purchase, like the scene of the sky. superb clouds..
Very good job. And you did great work with the exhaust.
I've seen about 3 of these in museums...at the USAF Museum (2) and Boeing. They are so sleek. My favorite story about one is written by a pilot who was fired at while over-flying Libya back about 1980...an SA-2 (might have the number wrong) was fired at him...this missile could reach his altitude (above 80,000 feet) and exceed his speed (above MACH 3)...he knew it was coming...still had to fly straight and level to finish his camera run...then hit a point where he could execute a 180 degree turn and head for home...he made it before the missile caught him, took the entire Mediterranean to complete his turn and still overshot his refueling tanker at Gibraltar...sheesh. Great render...love your billowing sky!
Wow! COOL! I have ever seen this bird at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa. She warmed up engine.
Wow Excellent Render Rod!! I thought it was a Photograph!!
Wow Rod very impressive superb work !!
WOW.....This is a masterful image Rob, loved the clouds, excellently done!
Very cool Rod!! WOW!! I love your sky and clouds in this one!
I've seen the one at Boeing (and have pictures of it ... well ... PARTS of it of course, since I never take pics of ALL of anything) and it's pretty impressive! I recognized this right off the bat. A fab model, and what you've done with it is spectacular! Speaking of those shots of the parts ... if you come up with a reason to need pics of this plane from ground level, just give us a yell. We've both got stuff you're welcome to use! :D
WOW! This is COOL Rod! I always LOVED that bird! Great post-work in this. I like the way you did the heat streams behind the engines. Excellent image!
That is one shmexy aircraft!
Nicely done!!!
lol, I was sitting her thinking "is this real" "it looks real" "but how did he get that shot". Then I read.... you tricked me. Excellent render, looks real.
Fantastic image Rod, even better that you used a shot you took during your trip for the background. The composite is seemless, this baby looks beautiful soaring through those clouds. I never knew the nickname for the SR71 was Habu.
Love that plane...invisible from radar
Nice job Rod! looks like you have picked up some cool toys

Nicely done - very realistic render of a unique piece of aviation history.
