Description
The first weekend of every month, Old Town Eureka (California) has Arts Alive. All the shops and galleries stay open late and it's a fun way to wander around and see what's going on. There's music of all kinds, but it's this samba band that stops people in their tracks. I don't think there's a more basic sound than drumming; it goes back to the earliest moments of mankind. This particular band is a somewhat ragtag group, but wow---I love em. One of these days, you'll see ME pounding away on a BIG drum (right in the middle of those fine, foxy guys you see~!)
Oh yeah, their leader is the guy on the left--barefoot and right on the beat!!

What a wonderful place to be, and EVERY month..WOW! our town has a lot to learn.
I can feel the beat...just not sure I'd be feeling good about walking through downtown anywhere in bare feet:-)))
Wow ... I can hear them from here! Fabulous!
Barefoot drummers! Yeah, there's something primordial about that, really getting in touch with the heartbeat of the world and all of that stuff! Needless to say, I love these shots. You captured so much energy in these shots and I love their arrangement and the whole sense of life. I wish Chicago had something like this!
I used to collect drum music...just drums...just basic...just primal. The sounds filled the house. Nothing warms the blood like the sound of a drum. I could get the house cleaned in no time listening to that stuff. But then, my cassette collection became too outdated and too costly to convert them all to CDs. Lost a great collection of drums along with about 500 other assorted genres on cassettes. I'm now the proud owner of 11 CDs. I refuse to invest in them knowing they will only pass on to some other form that I can't keep up with...
Nice shots, will be interested to see you in there with the drum, maybe next month?? lol.
Drums Along The Mohawk. Where are my earplugs? Stellar sequence of fotos depicting these primeval instruments and musicians, Marilyn.
Nice collage and looking forward to seeing you working a set of drums! Dana
wonderful expressions warm hugs, Linda
