Description
FORWARD, HO!!!
Or is it, FORWARD, YO!!!? I've never been able to determine which.
Captured 7/31/10, at an American Civil War Reenactment held at the vast and beautiful El Dorado Park in beautiful Long Beach, California.
Much better viewed full size.
These troopers trotting by prior to the upcoming battle were snapped from a moderate distance away through a 200mm lens using a relatively high shutter speed, which resulted in the pictures coming out very dark, because there is just so much light entering the camera under those conditions. Enter the postwork magic of Photoshop, which solved that problem.
Incidentally, Bill's great grandfather and his men were not part of this particular troop.
I have several more cavalry and horse photos, including those of the Confederates, so please bear with me.
Toodles, thankx for clicking on, and for any and all complimentary comments and favs.

I love this one. These horses are just to awesome...I love them all but the Palomino in front there was always my favorite as a kid. These men look quite proud to be where they are...awesome shots Harry! Your postwork is also excellent.
Outstanding Pictures! i used to do CW re-enacting back in the 80's when i was stationed in KY.(2nd KY B Co INF CSA/USA) I had ALOT of fun. Did you get any good Infantry pictures?
The top pic is particularly impressive!
wonderful shots of these horsemen
You did a great job lightening the pics, they look great. I love the fact that the horses come in so many colors. Great pics!
Nice galloping action here. Lovely collage as they coming, pass front of you and go away.
Great shots, Harry; some of those horses are quite pretty, and horses and men look quite smart there trotting around!
Historical collage Harry and all 5 photos could have been posted individually - they are that good. Dana
Wonderful collage of these horsemen Harry - proud in their uniforms! I also like the top photo best, but they are all special in their own way!
Beautiful horses. I am extremely impressed by the details they put into their reenactments. This would be a good field trip for the older children to experience.. Nice photos.
Nice shots from far off. These boys put their whole selves into this reenactment business. Well done...ready now for the rebs:)
These are super Harry! I mean really good!.. And I spot Infantry and Cannon in the background there.. lol The excitement mounts.. Can't wait for more shots.. :-) Rob
Nicely done! Enjoying this series
Beautiful horses! I like the little reddish one with the dark mane, tail and lower legs. In the last picture the two together in the front, look like they don't miss any meals. The first image is my favorite. Even though my favorite horse is not very visible in it, because the black and the white horse are captured in exceptionally beautiful poses. Excellent captures!
yep top is my fav too of this fine collage, Harry!
