Description
The next morning, everyone gets up late. Clint and Ridge have slight hang-overs. Joey, not having had anything stronger than a Grape Nehi, is at the top of his form. Martha has fixed a huge brunch for everyone consisting of their choice of eggs, country sausage, hash browns, toast and pan cakes, orange juice and cranapple juice, coffee, milk and various pastries for desert. The guys all attack the food with ravenous appetites and soon, there are barely enough leftovers for the poor forlorn little puppy that has been giving them the most adorable looks.
They spend another day with the Waters family before starting out on the road again. Ridge makes sure his motorcycle is ready for the trip and makes his final preparations. Clint offers to take Ridge's suit case in the Vette so Ridge won’t have to try carrying it on his cycle. With everything in readiness the next day, everyone bids Ridge’s parents a fond farewell and thanks them for their wonderful hospitality.
Ridge tells Clint to meet him in St. Louis at the Gateway Arch the next day if they happen to get separated for long. He has to see someone along the way but won’t delay them long. Clint and Joey have a great time back on the open road. This time, Clint is able to tease Joey about ‘The Kid’, without Joey being quite so self conscious. Joey seems to enjoy the good natured taunts from his older cousin.
That afternoon, they pull into St. Louis and set their sites on the Gateway Arch. They find a park nearby and wait there for Ridge to show up. Mrs. Waters has sent along a nice full picnic basket for them to enjoy, so they break out some sandwiches, chips and soft drinks and have a grand old time. Before they have finished, Ridge pulls into the rest area and joins them for lunch.
After lunch, Ridge suggests to Clint that they stay in St. Louis for a day or so to see the sites and soak up some of the local color. Clint asks Joey what he wants to do. He says ‘Sure, I’d love to stay a little while and see what this town has to offer!’ So, it is settled. Ridge has one place in partcular in mind, if they have room there. It is a most excellent bed and breakfast, run by a rather sexy middle aged lady. Ridge calls her on his cell phone. They are in luck. Someone cancelled a reservation this morning. They can have the room for a couple nights if they want it. The price is a little steep, but Clint says, ‘Don’t worry about it! I still have some spending money left over from my recent trip. I think I can more than cover this item!’ So they drive over to Mrs. Everglade’s Bed and Breakfast. It is situated in a most quaint part of town. The complex is very inviting and seems to welcome them as they drive up to it. Mrs. Everglade welcomes them by the door to her office and beckons them to come in.

Every excellent title! Wouldn't it be wonderful to be so carefree and just do whatever strikes your fancy. I'm having a wonderful trip with the guys. Great story and I can't wait to meet Mrs. Everglades. Wonderful story and picture.
In 1968 I was in St. Louis and went up that same arch. We rode on parts of Route 66 when it was still in existence. Your story brings back great memories.
LOL very cool.
