Description
Landscape Arch is the longest of the many natural rock arches located in the Arches National Park in Utah, USA. The arch is among many in the area known as Devil's Garden in the north area of the park. It can be reached by short walk/hike of about 1.5 miles along a maintained trail (in blistering heat). The Natural Arch and Bridge Society considers the Landscape Arch to be the longest natural arch in the world, having measured the span in 2004 at 290 feet (88.4 meters). Since 1991, three slabs of sandstone measuring 30, 47, and 70 feet (9.1, 14, and 21 meters) long have fallen from the thinnest section of Landscape Arch, forcing the Park Service to close the trail that once passed beneath it. Those are full grown Juniper trees under the arch.

Very lovely shot! I cannot understand why they would close that path, just because a little rock came tumbling down! Good Grief!
Incredible force of Nature :) Thanks for sharing with us
You are one great traveler slash photographer. This is such a stunning shot. What a great place. I would love to see the elements that created it. BTW, I'm on the opposite coast from Delray Beach but we share the same swamp.
Great shot - what a fascinating sight. Well done.
It is so amazing how they form like this, very cool and a excellent capture!
I'd like to see this in person; beautiful shot!
I was there last summer on vacation. It is a awesome place. Your photo is superb. Lyla
Absolutely marvelous place Dana, superb work!
I always wanted to see the arches...when I was a kid, my dad had a book with pictures of some of them and I've always had a fascination for them. Great shot!
This is like 'an arch too far' as it looks ready to fall anytime! Aw, a little 30' slab of sandstone wouldn't hurt, would it, LOL? I am assuming they don't let people walk across the top either, do they? That may be why some of those slabs came down.
Great shot. We had a similar feature over here that collapsed not too long ago! LONDON BRIDGE AUSTRALIA
