Clint and Joey are having a great time looking at the sights as the rich dark green farmland goes flying by them. It feels like they are on a magic carpet ride. The Vintage Corvette purrs along with a quiet, powerful energy that transmits its strengh back to the two. The farmland stretches along for miles with uncountable rows of corn growing to the sky in magnificent profusion. As the guys follow old Highway 66, Clint is shocked to sees a familiar looking face appear as if out of nowhere, thumbing a ride along side the road. Could it be Ridge Waters, the guy he met over in Japan at the Buddhist shrine. They pull over and stop. Ridge smiles back as he recognizes his friend from Japan. Happy greetings follow. Then Clint nudges Joey to get out of the car, get over his shyness and greet Ridge. Ridge sees Joey’s shyness and finds it a charming character trait. Once the introductions are over, Ridge tells them he needs a ride to the next town, which is where he lives. He arrived in Chicago this morning and was hitch hiking back home. They both are pleased by this lucky coincidence wich brought them together again. Joey is quite taken with the handsome Ridge, but still finds it too difficult to overcome his shyness and talk much. Ridge tells them they are only about 15 miles from his home town. Since it isn’t that far, Joey winds up sitting on Ridge’s lap for the duration and Ridge doesn’t seem to mind either. Although Joey is at first embarrassed by the prospect, he soon settles down on Ridges lap and tries to make the best of it. Ridge and Clint, while only having recently seen each other in Japan, still find a lot to talk about.
